Trump keeps saying his people are in discussions with China....yeah, bullshit.

A reporter asked Trump this morning who in his administration is having trade talks with China and Trump wouldn't say.....because Trump is lying, as always.

China has already won this trade war. Beijing said they will not talk to the U.S. until Trump drops the tariffs. --

Trump is a habitual liar, he lies even when there's no reason to at all, always been that way and always will be.

He's a bad liar too. Everyday if you listen to his bullshit, it's obvious he's lying and not even putting any effort into it. He's transparent, wears his emotions on his Chinese tie, and is too ****ing stupid to even lie convincingly, even after all these decades of practice. He is the lowest form of scum.....period. I still have hope that he'll be held accountable for all his crimes, words and actions.....we'll see.

This is some great China propaganda making fun of Trump and his tariffs. I shouldn't call it propaganda....China makes it plainly obvious how absurd Trump's tariffs are.

Check out the American factory workers at the beginning of the video. --

Yeah, that's like when I was a sophomore in college and would call a girl I liked every other day and getting voicemail.

We've had lots of beautiful conversations. I call and I hear her voice. I think we have a great rapport. She says, "leave a message." and so, I leave a message, and she lets me speak. She's a great listener too. Never once interrupted me. It's a beautiful thing, I'll tell you.

“China’s position is consistent, and we are open to consultations and dialogues, but any form of consultations and negotiations must be conducted on the basis of mutual respect and in an equal manner,” Commerce Ministry spokesman He Yadong said.
I never thought something said by China would make me smile but that did. I suppose we all know those key words are it. How can China respect that felon?

As an aside, is that his defiant look? Seems more like a mopey toddler look to me.

I think part of it is that he lives in the moment, for instant gratification. He blurts out whatever pops in his brain.
But, when you are trying to follow his train of thoughts, it's like he is consistently forgetting what he is trying to say and just keeps rattling on.

He 'forgets' on purpose, when his bloated ass is in trouble, he rattles on to get more lies in, hour later he'll rattle on completely denying his said what he said. He's a selfish corrupt criminal bastard, unfortunately he's in office again where he can have a negative effect on our citizens and our allies.

Think about this - China has more credibility right now than the US President.
Donald is transforming into Napoleon from Animal Farm before our eyes. MAGA media is his Squealer, and if anyone points out that he's an idiot and a liar his cult of sheep shriek "MAGA GOOD, NON-MAGA BAAAAAAD!" until dissent is stifiled.

It's a case of "he said, Xi said..."

Here's our dullard president, in his now-infamous Time Magazine interview this week:
Your trade adviser, Peter Navarro, says 90 deals in 90 days is possible. We're now 13 days into the point from when you lifted the reciprocal, the discounted reciprocal tariffs. There's zero deals so far. Why is that?
No, there’s many deals.
When are they going to be announced?
You have to understand, I'm dealing with all the companies, very friendly countries. We're meeting with China. We're doing fine with everybody. But ultimately, I've made all the deals.
Not one has been announced yet. When are you going to announce them?
I’ve made 200 deals.
You’ve made 200 deals?
100%

Meanwhile, Japan has given up in disgust and gone home without a deal because they can't get any straight answers on what America wants.

What a clown show.

I get the feeling that he and his band of bozos believe that their negotiating tactics that they use to swindle banks and venture capitalists out of their money will be just as effective in dealing with foreign heads of state. We have absolutely zero experience in the cabinet compared to some of these countries we're trying to strongarm into submission, who in many cases have political leaders who've been doing this for decades. It's such an experience and skills mismatch, and yet the MAGA fanboys and fin-bros really think they're onto something.

I heard an economics professor from the Univ of Michigan say yesterday that it takes years to negotiate a trade deal with a country. And we have nothing but incompetent amateurs that will be "attempting" to do this in the Trump Administation.

There was an article in the Washington Post yesterday that talked about how Peter Navarro used to be a Democrat. He even spoke at the 1996 Democratic Convention for Bill Clinton. Somewhere along the way, Navarro became convinced that tariffs would bring in a new golden era for this country's economy.

Now, Navarro is as deranged as Trump...which is why Trump loves him and listens to him. It's truly scary thinking about the reign of destruction these two sociopaths are about to inflict on the U.S. economy.

As I've pointed out elsewhere...

The Canadian and Mexican PMs both have PhDs. Carney is a Harvard and Oxford educated economist

The EU President is an economist and physician.

The UK PM has a law degree from Oxford. The Australian PM is an economist.

Trump and his merry gang of inexperienced misfits are successful in only one thing - rookie errors.

Not just that; it's also the actual administrative experience and the experience in the foreign arena. One could argue that Trump has foreign experience, but he is incapable of learning. I mean, the anecdotes of H.R. McMaster trying to explain relatively simple daily briefings to him and Trump getting frustrated and tuning him out because he wanted simple animations instead...that's pretty consistent with what we're seeing. He's impulsive, in constant need of a dopamine rush, which he probably gets from getting into conflicts and confrontations with various people.

In the first term, he actually had competent people around him who understood their job was to be guardrails and force him to ultimately to the legal or ethical thing, or otherwise avoid his own dumbassery. We have no such luck this term. He built the cabinet in the image of The Apprentice. Hardly anyone in his White House has any serious experience in foreign policy, save maybe Marco Rubio and let's face it: he's neutered. This is just the opening act of a multiple act shitshow tragedy, and we've got front row seats.

...and Trump played a successful businessman in a reality TV show.

For years the Republican Party has scorned actual expertise. In 1995 the GOP was so frustrated at being told they were wrong by the experts that they ended funding for the Office of Technology Assessment, which provided congressional members and committees with objective and authoritative analysis of the complex scientific and technical issues.

Conservatives, you see, know what's best for everyone, so-called "experts" be damned. They are frustrated that experts constantly call their pet dogmas into question--climate change is real, vaccines really work, tax cuts really do lead to bigger deficits, we really did land on the Moon, etc.

The political scientist John Sides, drawing on work by Eric Oliver and Thomas Wood, argues that the deepest divide in America isn’t between left and right, it’s between “rationalists” who focus on facts and reason, on one side, and “intuitionists,” who rely on their feelings, on the other.

Conservatives trust their "gut," meaning what they want to believe, while liberals weigh the evidence before making a decision. That's how we ended up with a White House filled with idiots.

tbf,
rookies would proceed with more caution because they realize they are rookies

Trumpco is a locomotive of wanton negligence and callous disregard

"Superstition" seems a more useful word than "intuition" in this context

I am unsure of how cleanly this distinction can be used to make other distinctions.
There're probably superstitious people all over the political spectrum.

The Trump phenomena have gathered and pooled too many of them together.

from the linked article in your post
Intuitionism, the authors note, is also correlated with conservative beliefs on a range of issues: abortion, euthanasia, immigration, and others. Interestingly, intuitionism predicts these sorts of beliefs among both liberals and conservatives. That’s because even though conservatives may be more anti-abortion than liberals, intuitionist liberals are more anti-abortion than rationalist liberals (and similarly for conservatives).
And it will perhaps not surprise you that in the 2016 Republican primary, Trump voters scored higher on intuitionism than voters for any of the other Republican candidates.

I Miss Republicans.
Remember Republicans?
Sober men in suits, pipes, who'd nod thoughtfully over their latest tract on market-driven fiscal conservatism while grinding out the numbers on rocket science.
Remember those serious-looking 1950's-1960's science guys in the movies -- Republican to a one.
They were the grown-ups. They were the realists. Sure they were a bummer ... but I genuinely liked them.
How did they become the party of fairy dust and make believe?
How did they become the anti-science guys?
The anti-fact guys?
The anti-logic guys?
