Chicago Sees Spike In Gun Violence

Chicago sees spike in gun violence.

So there goes any theory that stricter gun laws make a city safe. Chicago has among the strictest gun laws in the country and yet gun violence and violent crime in general runs rampant there.

I'm no fan of Gun Control, but I think the problem lies with how they address (or fail to) their gun violence. Which is to say they do nothing at all when its gang violence, unless an officer gets shot then:
But the focus on finding the person involved in the ATF agent's attack has infuriated some local residents.

They say gunfire in their neighborhoods happens daily, but they don't see the same police response.

"Just because you're wearing a badge, it matters more? How do you think that makes us feel?" one protester asked.

So why, then, is NYC - which has equally-strict gun laws IIRC - safer than most red states in the deep south when it comes to homicide rate?

If NYC is safe its for other reasons besides gun control.

Than explain Chicago.

Chicago is ranked 18th in per capita gun deaths.

Is it your claim that if any city ever has a temporary spike in gun crime their laws must be a big failure?

Prove it beyond any doubt. That is the standard you ask of others

I have proven it. Chicago has gun laws that are at least as strict as those in NYC and its infested with violent crime.

But there must be some other reason nyc has low gun violence rate, right? Why does it work one way but not the other.

So, just the shear volume of laws will make the difference? Amazing! Does anyone else know?

Actually, having effective regulation is what is important, but there is no effectiveness if there is no/little regulation.

:lamo

This silly bull**** again.

In EVERY STATE...red or blue...the rates of gun violence are skewed by their minority population centers. In EVERY city that experiences high crime and violence, the one key factor is NOT guns or gun laws...it is the individuals committing the violent murders. And in EVERY circumstance....it is minority and usually gang related violence.

Chicago is not an unsafe town...but certain parts of Chicago are. Detroit isnt an unsafe town...but certain parts of Detroit are. Las Vegas isnt an unsafe town, but certain parts of Las Vegas are unsafe. And the reason why those red states show up on a 'per capita' scale is because their OVERALL population is so small, that the death rates in minority communities skew the overall numbers. In EVERY circumstance.

I know...I know. The next step is for people to shriek that pointing out the facts regarding death rates in minority communities is racist. Because you would rather shriek "thats racist!" than acknowledge and deal with a problem.

Not guns. Not gun laws. Not black people. Not brown people. Poverty and a culture that always...ALWAYS makes excuses and ignores the problem rather than confront it. And as a result, you have 74 people shot in a week and idiot leftists shrieking about everything but saving lives and actually dealing with the problems.

There is no place in this country that has little or no regulation when it comes to guns.

New York City has strict gun laws, and violent crime rates have fallen nearly every year since 1991.

Chicago's gun laws also aren't as tough as the right so frequently claims.

Try again.

Everyone's crime rates have fallen since 1991. What specifically happened in NYC in 1991 to start their crime rate decline? Please cite the causal effect.

Because we all know we can never pass a law without first citing causal effect of evidence it will work......right?

We have the most lax gun laws in the developed world
