A Rhode Island man lost 132 lbs eating nothing but a Chic Fil A salad every day.

A man from Lincoln, Rhode Island says eating at Chick-fil-A every day helped him lose 132 pounds after a series of health scares left him searching for new ways to lose weight.

I looked at their menu and depending on which salad he was ordering he was consuming 550 - 830 calories per day.

Alcohol is high in calories. Quitting drinking probably had more to do with the weight loss than the salad.

I think it was both. He loved pizza and dropping that carb and fat delivery system would go a long way.

Why the expense and bother when one can make an awesome salad at home?

Chick-Fil-A should hire Jared.

It doesn't say what else he ate other than the salad. Or how much alcohol he consumed before dieting. The article is pretty much just an ad for Chick-fil-a salads.

What it is is a VLCD that worked for him.

When I was single, I got Subway almost every weekday. It made it more easy to maintain my weight loss. It's too expensive to do that now, though. I keep a food diary and weigh in regularly instead. I still get Subway every once in a while.

Small changes can have big impacts 🤷‍♀️
This was a big change.

But you're right. My buddy had all sorts of health problems from what I would describe as the worst diet I've ever seen.

Everything from diabetes to hemorrhoids.

We were working together and I talked him into a supermarket deli salad for lunch. "Just eat one healthy meal a day" was my suggestion.

The hemorrhoids disappeared thanks to the introduction of some fibre.

His other issues are still a problem for him 😔

(Sung to the tune Yesterday)

Chick fil A
I Could eat there seven times a day
Where the people laugh and children play
Oh I'm in love with Chick-fil-A

Suddenly I need waffle fries in front of me
With some nuggets and a large sweet tea
Oh Chick-fil-A you set me free

Kids get in the van So we can Go right away.

Oh no. We can't go cuz they're closed. It is Sunday.

Chick-Fil-A What a dirty rotten trick to play.
Now, I'll have to settle for Subway.
Oh I'm in love with Chick-fil-A
M-m-m Chick-fil-A!

That's far too few calories per day. While he may very well be eating the salad each day, I suspect that's not the only thing he is eating each day. The article didn't discuss the rest of his diet, aside from it not including alcohol. But losing 60 lbs. in just a couple months is significant and very fast (likely, too fast), so he certainly might have been consuming very low calories in those initial months. I wonder if he had any energy at all, even though he said he felt better? It sounds like he's maintaining his new weight now, so I suspect he's eating more calories than that salad.

It's the calorie level people go on pre-bariatric surgery. Short term it would be ok as long as nutritional needs are met. He was likely also taking supplements.

Yes, the science behind losing weight is very simple, you need to burn more calories than you take in. He was eating a very calorie stricted diet so the weight loss makes sense.
