Which would explain why he was in a fenced in yard with chickens.
I guess so.
When turkeys were first discovered in the Americas, they were taken back to Europe and they came back with all kinds of beautiful breeds like those.
Amazing stuff.
That's someones animal, there are no wild Turkey's in the U.S. or anywhere that look like that.
Looks like a Royal Palm.

And Ben Franklin lobbied to have the turkey become the National Bird instead of the Bald Eagle.
We have literally herds of wild turkeys here. They come through a few dozen at a time, one male always at the highest rock, keeping a lookout. The babies are adorable.
BTW, they only puff up like that for two things: If they feel threatened and want to go all cowboy on a rival's ass, or if they want to impress something they are in lust with. You must have made a hell of an impression, lol!

Well, as promised. Here's the Mama turkey with the baby turkey. Taken through my kitchen window, so, not the best shot.

Too cute! The most adorable thing I ever saw was this huge Tom, the patriarch, who spied a cat walking too close to where the flock was pecking seeds. The tom fanned his tail and fluffed himself up as he strode toward the startled cat... and right next to his daddy, a baby tom half the size of the one in your picture, fanned his tiny tail, fluffed all four inches of himself, and followed right behind.
I laughed myself silly.
