Charlie Kirk

I just don't understand what the big deal is about Charlie Kirk.

Never even heard of this guy before he got killed.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what all this controversy is about?
He was a very well known conservative political activist. I knew of him, have seen a few clips of him interacting with those who disagreed with him, but did not actually follow him. He did have literally millions of followers. It was a political hit job and that should worry the entire country. He gave his opponents the right to debate with him to the point of going into the lion's den to do it, but, unfortunately, one person didn't give Charlie the right to express his first amendment rights and, instead, murdered him.

The big deal. MAGA has a martyr and they are milking him for everything they can get out of his murder. Lead by their Dear Leader, of course.
Wouldn't have happened that way if you guys hadn't incited violence against him. YOU created the martyr and now you have to live with that.

I have wondered how many people really know anything significant about Kirk at all. I follow politics closely but never delved into the details of his right wing youth movement because I am old and not interested. My wife had never heard of him. Kirk’s exposure to the public was largely social media and podcast based. I don’t get anything from those two sources of what passes for information today. Kirk was apparently very savvy with social media and podcasting and that is very important to reaching those who live online. Kirk tapped into the generation who seem to live almost entirely online. And he had actual political influence. So to a certain part of society he was a big deal. And to many others he was unknown.
I must also point out that even though he was very big on social media, he also spent a lot of his time the good old fashioned way by going out to colleges and universities in person to talk with youth, knowing that most there would disagree with him. He believed in civil debate and often silenced those present who were on his side so that the person debating him could speak freely. Unfortunately, one person too many didn't want civil debate.

I will continue to condemn Kirk's murder but this speaks to the disconnect between his rhetoric, and people like JD and Miller howling for others to be "targeted" and cancelled for not displaying the proper attitude about it.
LOL. Ummmmmmmmmmmm, there's a big difference between not displaying the proper attitude about it and celebrating his death and dancing on his grave.

I do not trust government (state or federal) to determine what is appropriate decorum for citizens in any circumstance or its judgment re: who has failed to meet that standard.

I don't care who's in power at any given moment.

The right, and specifically the Christian Right see him as a champion for western civilization, Christendom, and "traditional conservative values" against the godless wokeism with which universities and public schools indoctrinate their children.
And he did it by openly debated those who thought differently and were willing to talk.

I was only vaguely familiar with him. From what little that I knew of him, I simply put him in the group of folks that only appeal to those with low I.Q.'s.

Principally, it is now fundamentally about the left's celebration of his assassination.

His career out the fact that he was assassinated in front of a crowd.

He was murdered in front of a huge crowd for apparently no real reason. It's a bit odd don't you think?

Our nation's biggest threat is oligarchy. Oligarchy requires them to have power in a country designed for individual freedoms, including democracy. They need to somehow get a government that will transfer over $50 trillion in wealth from the American people to them, which they have done, and so far, to somehow get elected.

What the oligarchs have to do that is one thing: money. And they use that for power. Decades ago, they corrupted the Supreme Court to allow a largely unlimited use of money in politics to get their minions elected, and those minions have further cemented the corruption.

Part of what they do to get those votes is a massive propaganda system, with various parts, including propaganda factories they call 'think tanks', and media systems including Fox News.

Another is to fund, with dark money, a project to try to spread the propaganda poison among young people, misleading them to vote for their minions. Kirk saw opportunity in that, and was handed, one report said $80 million last year, another over $100 million. He was a willing servant for the project and a well paid one.

To be fair, he seemed to have some principles how he did it. The immoral messages were largely his own, but they overlapped with the oligarch propaganda strongly to get their support.

But he recently ran into a limit. He reportedly despised Netanyahu, and began to question some of his actions. He allowed an anti-Zionists to his stage. A top Zionist lobbyist, the despicable billionaire Bill Ackman, summoned Kirk on a pretense and attacked him, leaving him afraid. Netanyahu offered to bring him to his state and reportedly to give him over $100 million, which Kirk refused.

To summarize the points above, Oligarchy threatens our country greatly, from people's prosperity to their freedoms to their democracy.

It finds poison to fund to get votes for its minions. Kirk was a minion spreading poison - but he had some redeeming qualities and independence.

And questionably-colored immigrants, don't forget

One disturbed person didn’t want Kirk to live for personal reasons. Not sure his motivation was that he didn’t want civil debate.

Well, if you look at all the disgusting aftermath from the left, apparently lots of people are glad Kirk is dead because they don't want civil debate.

No, this is what the right is claiming about the left. There are not any examples of this at all.
