A 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area has been arrested, Merseyside Police says.
It comes after a car ploughed into a crowd of people during Liverpool FC's Premier League victory parade. It is unclear if he is the driver of the vehicle.

Horrible incident. People went out to celebrate an amazing Liverpool season and some will have life-changing injuries from this. :(

Yep, unfortunately theres not a lot you can do to stop nutters like this who just want to ruin everything nice.
Familes just out for a celebration about the team doing well.

Trophy parade for the Reds was estimated to draw a half million. If planned, the shit gibbon was timing it for carnage.

Some whackadoodle goes off. 🤷‍♂️

Compared to other ramming attacks this was at a lower speed. Hopefully that will result in fewer and less serious casualties.

More government run mental health counseling. Obviously many need it.

Interesting statement from authorities.

They are calling it a collision. 🤷‍♂️

“A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: “We would ask people not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding tonight’s incident on Water Street in Liverpool city centre.

“We can confirm the man arrested is a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.”

I don't think it was a terrorist attack. The man for some reason drove into the area that was closed to traffic.

I'm not sure if he was confused or maybe angry and wanted to get where he was going. In earlier videos you can see some people in the crowd getting aggressive and hitting his car. He may have initially been trying to escape, or maybe lost his cool.

I agree he most likely is not a terrorist. I just find the language odd calling it a collision. Perhaps an incident would have been a better description.

It's the British penchant for understatement. If Russia invaded the UK I'm sure it would be described as "traffic disruption".

The "Interesting statement from the authorities" was issued when a wave of anti-Muslim/immigrant hate swept across the internet. (much of it from US sources) those same accounts pushing the racist memes rapidly pivoted to "Police are covering up!" meme. when the statement was made to debunk their lies. "How often is the race of the perpetrator given out so soon..."

What a lame excuse for poor grammar.

Akin to “Some people did some things”

Of course it's just a innocent collission. The man is white.

So no response. I offered no excuses for anyone, just an observation on how sick twitter has become.
Response to what exactly? I know why the statement came out as the link stated as much. It’s the calling it a collision that I noted.

The driver was driving while unfit through drugs, which may have been induced by the victory celebration in Liverpool.

A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drugs after 65 people were injured by a car at a parade to celebrate Liverpool winning the Premier League.

However, as no one has yet been charged in relation to the incident, the police will not confirm the arrested man's name.

However, the press are also restricted on identifying him as well.

Apparently he got through the parade barriers when one was removed to allow an ambulance to reach a heart attack victim, and he followed it.

"How often is the race of the perpetrator given out so soon..."
how sick twitter has become.

Youtube as well at the moment. Even though the perpetrator has been identified, the highest liked comments under any videos of the incident are all about Islam and attacking immigrants.

Some of these people are just itching to burn a mosque down and all the inhabitants. Sick bastards.
