This is good news for the Canadian hospitality industry. This is incidental to a sharp drop in European visitors to the US. I would not want to be in the tourism sector in the US right now.

Trips across the U.S. border continue to drop and many Canadians plan to check out the east coast, the west coast and everywhere in between, although travel to Europe remains strong.

Kayak found there has been a 25 per cent increase in domestic flight searches and 55 per cent of car rental searches are now domestic

Right now I would discourage Canadians from visiting the United States. Our current government appears to be actively hostile to Canada. Fortunately the world is full of amazing places to visit!
I've never had a problem crossing the US border but I sure as hell wouldn't try it now.

Besides, I've already decided I won't set foot in the US again.

Gotta wonder how the World Cup and Olympics will be affected………

It's going to be a problem because we all know that Trump will weaponize USCIS against the rest of the world by threatening to disallow athletes unless the originating nation does something for Trump personally.

Athletes and their support teams, journalists and other visitors will all be at risk crossing into the US.

Most countries simply deny entry if paperwork isn't in order. The US sends them to El Salvador or South Sudan.

See, it's not just entire countries that get totally pissed off about this stuff. It's individuals in the United States who own companies or work in industries that are devastated by Trump's policies.

Mr Republican business owner is sitting in his office right now trying to figure out how he's going to pay his bills because his business has tanked. Because of Trump.

He's sitting in his office wondering if he's going to be able to make his house payment for the next months. He can't believe that he was just cruising along making good money and just because of one president he's now unable to sleep and stressing out and wondering if he will go bankrupt or lose his job.

Good job MAGA. you screwed yourselves.

What the ****?!!!!

Trump has not shied away from sport's super-sized spotlight during his second term, becoming the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl in February, and in May announcing D.C. as the host for the 2027 NFL Draft from the Oval Office.

Why would Canadians travel to a country that wants to invade them?
I'm pretty sure tourism to Germany from the UK was way down in the late 1940s as well.

There were a lot of foreigners in Germany from the mid to the late 1940s….all expenses paid…….

This just might be the year for a visit to some tourist spots like National Parks, museums and such. I like doing that sometimes, but I despise crowds.

Trump's verbiage is so extreme that most Canadians do not take him or Musk seriously.

We see him as a man child without enough toys to keep him occupied.

Comparatively, note that Canadians do not like politics nor politicians. They interfere with our enjoyment of life but are a "necessary evil", whereas Americans idolize their leaders like their stool don't stink. Carney, wisely called an election AFTER the NHL had pretty much eliminated Canada from the play offs. He's not stupid.

Our connection to the US is not official, organized nor promoted. Most of the people living along border are more committed to each other than any government. NO government was involved in 2001 when the US had to close its airspace and Canadians opened their homes.............we just did it because it was the Canadian thing to do.

We're very easy going, but always remember our favorite sport is the only professional sport that tolerates bare knuckle fighting.....because Canadians insist,

You're so superior. I'm in awe. I'm convinced.

Here in Vancouver we're hearing of some real shitty stuff. Like a native born Canadian citizen was shipped off to a camp in Florida. He didn't have a passport as one is NOT required to enter the US.

It's going to cost the US taxpayer over a $ million. They made the mistake of shipping off a lawyer!

Guess who pays for the damages............

Not Donald Trump or the fascist border officers.

As having been in two Olympics, Montreal and Vancouver I can suggest that America is NOT ready for the experience. Vancouver is one of the cleanest cities in North America except the European press ripped the city to shreds over "homelessness" which is actually a drug problem.

A friend in Austria said it sounded like Vancouver was one giant slum! Not a word about being the safest city in Canada, nothing about the complete lack of air pollution and ignoring the natural beauty of the North Shore Mountains, lack of snow and moderate weather.

The Brits were overly critical of the beer....of course

And the foreign press LIKED us!

They hate Trump.

Good luck.

My apologies to anyone who wanted to visit our beautiful country with all the sights and wonders and attractions.
Please go elsewhere.

I was at a Texaco gas station in South Georgia where a family from Canada was filling up on their way to Florida for a vacation trip when the radio station interrupted their broadcast to inform us that JFK had just been shot and presumed dead. After paying their bill the Canadian family turned their car around and headed back North. I had never met a Canadian before that date, but will always remember meeting and talking with them. The word Canada often brings that instance in time to mind, and I've often wondered if that family ever did make a trip to Florida at some other time.
