I think I will post two stories here because they fit the same theme:

There is a bi-partisan bill being pushed in Congress that would allow Canadian snowbirds to stay in the US longer without a Visa:

Also, US Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra thinks stronger ties between Canada and the US are possible even if tariffs remain:

This is delusional thinking. The snowbirds are not going to return in the same number just because you are not going to fingerprint them after 30 days. As long as the tariffs and the threats of annexation remain, Canadians will not want to visit the US.

And Canadians will not want closer ties to the US as long as the tariffs remain. Trump and his supporters stabbed Canada in the back and then they are confused as to why we take this personally.

The US has declared itself to be Canada's enemy. Far as I'm concerned any Canadian who vacations in America ought to have their passport revoked.

Good luck with that!

"Go **** yourself" is a thing that has united our country from coast to coast.

These people really can't read the room can they.

That's like claiming that diplomatic tiffs between US and China will keep Americans from buying cheap Chinese goods from Wal-Mart, Dollar Store, etc.

I'll believe when I see it.

Terrible analogy. Did a rejected beta AI program write that for you?
I'll believe when I see it.
You're seeing it. Well, you're not. But people have posted the declining tourism numbers and boycotts all over the forum.

Repeatedly threatening to take over a country is not a 'diplomatic tiff'. And the President of the US has threatened two Canadian Prime Ministers.
The magatry can slough Trumps threats off as 'trolling' till the cows come home but the world is watching.

You see it in the tourism decline in the US:

And Canadian campaigns to boycott US goods:

I think you are underestimating how angry Canadians are at the US nowadays. This Snowbird bill or this snake oil salesman you call an Ambassador saying ties should become stronger despite the tariffs is not going to do anything to lessen this anger.

The USA can KMA!

It would be best for Canadians to avoid travel to the United States. The risk of being disappeared for weeks is not worth taking when there are many other wonderful places to visit in the world whose leadership isn’t actively hostile toward you.

I'll believe when I see it.
Out of curiosity, why this charade? Obviously you’ll never believe it whether or not you see it, because Donald decides what you are allowed to believe. We know it. You know it. So, why this pretense of independent thought? Why not save everybody including yourself some time and say what you really think, which is that you don’t care what Canadians do unless it involves being annexed?

Both are a matter of convenience and one adds security to it

Buying Chinese goods is convenient and affordable, US goods if you can find them are more expensive.

Travel to the US is roughly the same cost as Mexico or many other locations. The ability to drive there made it convenient. Now with border risks and overzealous agents adding risks of being tossed in jail make it a security risk to travel to the US. Heck if I was a visible minority Canadian I would absolutely avoid all travel to the US.

No, travel to US is obviously cheaper for Canadians than going to Mexico, whether flying or driving (especially driving)
Crime is less, infrastructuere is better.

What? Mexico and the Caribbean are cheaper than the US. Obviously.

Crime is less, infrastructuere is better.

Yeah right.

Homicide rate
Florida 7.2
Cuba 4.5

As for infrastructure the Caribbean, Mexico etc have excellent resorts.

Cuba --- yes, I'm sure that regime represents your values.
The fact that it's tottering - like yours is - must give you some comfort.

Step outside those resorts sometime

You've never been outside the US 🤣

Explains a lot!
