Canada threatens U.S. with retaliatory tariffs in EV tax credit dispute
'Canada will defend its national interests,' letter to U.S. lawmakers says.www.politico.com
Looks like Biden might piss off our Northern friends with his BBB porkapalooza
Because we can't possibly build any cars unless we pass the "Build Biden's Bullshit" bill.Oh...well, I guess we should never consider building cars in the United States ever again.
Let's all cheer for the folks who don't want cars built in America, because it hurts Biden?
Really? Seriously?
I think it really is as knee jerk as I suspect: "'The left' criticized Trump for trade wars with Canada because it hurt America, so they're poopyface hypocrites because Biden wants to do this", and to add insult to injury that angle is drawn without bothering to compare benefits. One compares cost-benefit analysis. One doesn't ignore whichever of those two it is most helpful to ignore and argue only the other. But...here we are (probably)I find it interesting how the MAGA crowd really seems to prioritize Making Canada Great Again these days. First they got torqued over the Keystone pipeline that prioritized Canada's interests over those of the United States. Now they prefer vehicles to be built in Canada. It's weird.

i thought that republicans wanted things built in america to give people more jobs do they not support that now?Its language marks a stronger policy position from Canada, which up until Friday has been thin on specific retaliatory actions the federal government is ready to take to push Democrats to reconsider the $4,500 tax credit expansion to consumers who buy American-assembled EVs.So....to be clear... just how strong is the belief that we should buy American to be stronger? You're not gonna get products at the same price as those made in many other countries without:
1. Getting rid of all the worker protections those countries don't have so that labor inputs are at least the same, which incidentally neuters the entire complaint about "libruls don't care about slavery in China!"
2. Things like tax credits that artificially reduce cost on taxpayer dollar.
There are other tweaks, but they apply to those two main categories of action.
So which is it? If I piece together all the criticisms of Biden I've seen this year and treated it as gospel, the conclusion would be that to improve things we should attempt to: stab ourselves in the dick with a hammer, bang our head on the wall by kicking a table, and take out the trash by putting it in the closet and lighting it on fire.
Why? Duh, because they're piecemeal, disconnected from every other negative thing one has said about him. (Well, at least in the committed attackers).
Pick consistent goals or it's all nonsense.

Nobody does. It's not been finalized yet.Five bucks says you don't know what is IN the Build Back Better bill.
Lol - where's your timeline for when provisions are no longer in effect so they can pretend it costs much less than it does?I SAID FIVE BUCKS SAYS YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT'S IN the BBB bill.
