No, the Canadian government in its entirety will have to deal with the consequences. If the Conservatives are not 100% behind Carney they will pay an even steeper price than they just did. We know who is to blame for this mess and it's nobody of either political stripe here. Trump is squarely to blame and every Canadian knows that.

Trust me the Liberals did not win this election, Mark Carney did. If not for him, his financial and economic credentials plus his steady manner, the Conservatives would have won in a landslide. The Liberal party itself is not popular.....understatement... but Carney was seen by a majority as the right man for the time. This was a one man, one issue election. I've never seen such a thing!

What a hysterical resistance to any discussion of the "liberal" party or liberal policies from some Canadians. NO, NO, NO not the liberal party - despite just electing a government and leader from the liberal party. And the really funny - Trump made us part because, clearly, our country wouldn't vote for another liberal if not for Trump making us. ;)

There is absolutely no way that the Liberals could have won this election if not for Trump.....none. This was not an election based on policy. It was strictly a matter of which leader could effectively get us through the economic disaster Trump has foisted upon us.....period full stop

What they should do instead is abolish all government and ensure that wealth is the only measure of power in society, giving the wealthy all the power with zero checks or balances.

You're right. This central banker will of course keep all of his (very) wealthy friends in line. We all know central bankers as a group have extremely high ethical standards, so you can count on him to look out for the little guy. Just examine the history of Goldman Sachs, and you will see the kind of honesty and integrity Carney brings to the table.
