In March Canadian leisure trips to the US declined 18% and business trips dropped 40%.

As I mentioned in another thread the weekly marketing email I received from Air Canada didn't even include the usual "US Destinations" category.

Canada is rapidly reshaping its aviation ties with the US as declining travel demand, rising diplomatic tensions, and shifting consumer preferences drive major airlines—Air Canada, WestJet, Porter, and Flair—to slash routes to key U.S. cities including San Francisco, Miami, New York, and Washington. With a significant drop in both leisure and business travel from Canada to the U.S., carriers are now reallocating capacity toward Europe, where demand remains strong and political conditions are more favorable.

The aversion to travel to the US is global and follows travel advisories from a number of countries.

Meanwhile, Canada has issued updated travel advisories cautioning citizens about “strict enforcement” at U.S. borders and warning of increased scrutiny of electronic devices. Similar advisories have been issued by France, Belgium, Finland, Portugal, and the United Kingdom, reinforcing the perception of heightened tension and risk when entering the United States.

lol... yeah, I know the usual suspects will say they don't want us there anyway, and I'm kinda ok with that for some reason. 🤭

Depends on who you ask, I guess. You know some will claim not to. All part of the strategy, bud. ;)
Yes the "we must destroy the economy to make it better" strategy they must have learned at Trump University.

Funny that most countries (and previously America) have been able to grow their economy without the dynamite.

This is why Trump needs to stop with the soft rhetoric. "oh we would be so good together" No thank you, we should annex Canada and force our companies and men in.

This shit doesn't even feel real anymore, if I'm honest. I have no idea what's going on. 🤷‍♂️

I guess it is good that we just came back to the States for a month vacation... New Zealand might be banned next.

Do it! Looks like a boring summer coming up, all other things considered. A mass of easily identified targets would give all the moose hunters some welcome practice.

We know what's happening but we haven't even begun to understand the cost.

No, like, I legitimately don't know what's going on...lol The state of things is unbelievable.

On the plus side, the exercise from all the head shaking is really starting to show results...lol ffs

I grew up and spent my early adult years on the west coast of Florida. The number of Canadians that inhabited places like Clearwater, Indian Rocks Beach, Treasure Island, Saint Petersburg Beach, etc. was immense. I'm sure it hasn't changed. Florida will be especially hard hit by this. Wonder how DeSantis is feeling these days?

You guys got any minerals/metals we can mine?

Natural Gas is pretty big business here.

Then we have New Zealand Lamb... the best in the world.

This is uncharacteristically organic to say the least.

No one has publicly called for a boycott, it's just happening.

Read a quick local item, while crossings into the US are a mere fraction of the norm, the pain is being felt with the Seattle Mariners! It appears we rely heavily on scalpers for tickets and they're complaining that sales are less than 5% of normal as almost no Canadians are showing up for games.

Get those Immigrants out of the USA. What? They don't have beaches in Canada?

I personally know four couples that sold their places in Florida, and I don't know many retirees IRL...hehe.... It's not good.

And I loved going to Florida when I was a kid, I was looking forward to taking my son there. Honestly, I think he'll age out of the experience before this blows over.

KFC and McDonalds don't serve lamb, not interested.

yeah, uh, sorry about that suddenly seeming more probable for no practical reason

If it happens, it's not you.
It's us.

They ski. They surf. That's about it. Some of them fish enough to feed everybody. But nobody gets bothered much.
