Canada chickens out, will drop retaliatory tariffs on many US goods

On one hand I hate that Canada is caving to Trump, but on the other hand I realize tariffs are bad, so I can't really be mad if Canada doesn't want Canadians to pay more for US goods.

Now, Canadians, you need to simply not buy American goods, so this is all up to you.

 
I'm OK with this. I suspect this was the purpose of Carney's call yesterday. We should not be placing tariffs on American goods that are in compliance with CUSMA. Trudeau imposed them, I'm surprised it took Carney this long to drop to drop them. It really is up to the consumer and as long as Trump plays his stupid trade games I for one will not buy American products, tariffs or no tariffs.

Not true . We are in compliance with the trade deal and the dairy tariffs.

That was in 2022 and was settled. Maybe if you kept hormones and antibiotics out of your dairy products we would buy more.

Because of the tariffs. It is a built-in advantage to Canadian producers. And there is still that Canada dumps subsidized lumber on the American market.

Yup and they can come in tariff free up to an amount that is rarely exceeded.

I do. It was a move to help protect Canadian dairy farmers because they are not given subisties like US farmers are from their government.
US farmers are given an advantage over their the CA farmers by getting handouts from our government. Sounds like something that ends in ism.

I most certainly will when they are in violation of the trade deal negotiated by and agreed to by Trump. His word cannot be trusted..the US can not be trusted.
