The democratic candidates are promising everything but the kitchen sink to get your vote in the 2008 presidential election.......From Universal Health Care to $5,000.00 dollars for every new born.....Cradle to death welfare......I could go on and on.....These are promises that would bankrupt this country and rasie taxes out of sight that is why I ask the question.

No vote either way. Between McCain's gas tax increase and large environmental plans, and the amount of money we're spending on the war in Iraq, along with his constant capitulations to the Democrats which lead me to highly doubt seeing any kind of tax cuts, espicially ones like the ones he voted against twice already....

and then the Democrats who are well, like McCain, but a bit worse, and open about it...

I don't think we can really afford EITHER.

So you want to eliminate the deficit and not raise taxes...I guess that means you want to cut spending.

Tell us Navy Pride, which specific programs would you eliminate or reduce?

Hell no. Unless all of you want the terrorists to win!

Oh wait, that was 4 years ago. :doh Sorry, I'm a little slow.

:damn Are you ever going to post a poll that isn't either so slanted and skewed or overly populated with your "opinions"?! And with that said why bother voting given only 2 choices permeated with the standard "damned if you do - damned if you don't" choices.

I'd like to answer if I could...

I'd start with eliminating the IRS and replace the income tax with a national sales tax. Then I'd abolish the federal Department of Education. Then I'd veto any bill that had unnecessary spending, i.e. "pork" in it. Then I'd ween our nation off of social security by allowing individuals to keep the money they earn and invest it however they see fit.

I could go on, but I think you get the idea...

Good for you; I agree that some of those ideas do have merits.

However, I asked the question to a big-government hypocrite who clearly has no interest in reducing spending. Navy Pride is definitely to my left when it comes to spending.

This is one thing we agree on. :)

Navy, so.. uh... if we have another Conservative president... who's going to foot all the bills if China decides to stop funding the war in Iraq?

Will we then have enough money to get our boys home?

I can tell you that I would not be spending millions to build a memorial to Woodstock like your girlfriend Hillary wants to do in up state New York.........

No one said it would be easy my left wing friend........

My bad. I mistook you for a "ZOMG! What will we do without all our precious big government programs!" liberal.

Apparently no one did say it would be easy. Because someone was asked for specific things they'd cut and instead of being able to answer and debate, they just had to insult another candidate because their own isn't any better.

So yeah, the next 4 years, no matter what, aren't going to be easy

I note you didn't mention a single program you'd cut, in order to reduce the deficit.

Apparently not, if your idea of eliminating the deficit is to not fund a Woodstock memorial.

I don't mind some government intervention when I think it's necessary (like medical care), but I'm not opposed to market-based solutions if I think they make sense.

Its a ****ing yes or no answer my left wing friend...........

I would scrap the IRS and institute a national users tax or a flat tax........I have seen studies that say that would wipe out the deficit, make both Medicare and SS solvent.........

I also agree on the DOE.....Its been a black hole pouring billions into it since the days of LBJ...........

I would also disapprove any bill with ear marks on it.......

I'm sure people asked that in 1991 and 1992 when Bill Clinton was winning the party nomination and eventually the presidency.

Then the people responded after he took Oval Office. The result? The U.S. Congress, which had been completely Democrat for decades, became a Republican powerhouse.

Think of it this way - if Obama or Clinton win and go apeshit with the liberal magic wand, they'll create a Republican overhaul of the House, and their dreams of creating a helpless welfare state will stop there.

Checks and balances, my friend. It helps ensure that even if America becomes temporarily stupid and puts a Democrat in office, the situation can be fixed.

OK, the deficit has two components: The amount we tax, and the amount we spend. If your sales tax is along the lines of the FairTax, AT BEST it would be revenue-neutral. Most of its proponents even accept that. The only way to generate more tax revenue is if you want to *GASP* raise taxes!

Are you a no-good tax-raisin' liberal, Navy Pride?

No you haven't.

Fair enough. The DoE is gone, and you've just cut $59 billion from the federal budget. One problem: The federal budget deficit is $240 billion.

Keep going. What other programs would you eliminate?

That's another $17 billion you'd trim from the budget. What else?

fairtax.org.............

Like I say if you instituted it it would cover everything........deficit, balance the budget, medicare and SS but you have to get off your *** and check it out.............

In other words, you don't really want to cut very much from government spending. You just support a tax system that (you believe) would generate more revenue to pay for the government we have.

So how exactly are you not a tax-and-spend liberal?

How is that any different than the corporate welfare that you and your GOP support?

Well...l guess it is different, one gives tax breaks to the people. The other gives tax breaks to wealthy corporations....so I guess there is a difference between the Democrats and the GOP.

Two words for any Republican who has anything to say about liberal social programs: farm subsidies

Yea i agree dump them they need to be dumped in Europe too.
