Since Trump has already told us his intentions concerning the Dept. of Ed., I don't think she needs to be either. She just needs to be capable of tossing that department in the trash where it belongs. Now, I don't know if she's capable of doing that, but I think those Senators should be asking her about that instead of trying to lob stupid softballs at her.

Here's why I say perhaps: the Trump administration mirrors his transactional mindset. He wants you to do something, he rewards you for it (well, some of the time, you get the idea). There is a very real possibility that Trump will NOT get rid of the Department of Education because the point of the Department is to offer funding and guidelines on education. Basically, he can use the Department to reward districts who support him: he just directs the Department what the grants are for and to change guidelines to help his supporters...so you would see more of your tax dollars going towards private/charter schools that are more aligned with MAGA.
So, to that point, should that be something you would be OK with (and you might not)...you would actually want someone a bit better than what we have now. You may want a statistical wonk and someone who is good with mathematics to make that work. McMahon is trash that wouldn't be fit for that duty.
