That is a very astute point that Abbott and the rest of the dumb **** Repugs in Texas don't seem to understand. The same kind of backfire could also happen to the Republicans in Texas. Aggressive gerrymandering is always a risk.
California had a voter initiative that modified their Constitution to take the drawing of legislative districts out of the hands of the state legislature. I don't see how they can now get around that.
What I mainly want to see happen is those Texas legislators who fled the state be kicked out of their jobs. That's what the Democrats really deserve to have happen to them.
Look, the Repugs are going to get destroyed in the midterms next year. That's already obvious. Everyone hates the tariffs and the Big Ugly Bill. If Texas creates 5 more districts that currently favor Trump by 10% - 15%, then they will be in danger of losing those 5 districts next year.
