Bush's father complains of news media "hostility"

It is perfectly natural for any Father to defend his son.
But to declare that he has no idea as to why the media shows personal aminosity towards that son, and then in the next sentence reveal that he talks back to his TV set.
I am so very happy that Bush Senior no longer even pretends to be a serious politician.
If he is unaware as to why his son George Jnr is so detested not only by the Media but also by some 66% of the elecorate, one could suggest that he takes the trouble to discover what his son has and is doing.
He himself discovered the consequences of lying to the electorate, one would have thought his son would have learnt the lesson, but apparently not.

Yeah because there are much more politically serious ex-presidents like Jimmy Carter out there..... hahahaha just kidding. lol Carter.
 
What do you expect? He's a father who is upset that people are attacking his son. It wouldn't matter if Bush-43 killed puppies and molested children, his dad still wouldn't understand why people didn't like him.

Nothing unusual or despicable about Bush-41's attitude.
 
I was speaking about George Junior's father, not about ex Presidents in particular nor about ex President Carter in particular.
I would imagine that Ex President Carter's Father will have much to say to him when they meet in the here after, that assumes that the Ex President will arrive at the same place where his father went.

Typical liberal assessment. If only 33% approve of the President's handling of Iraq, then it must mean that 66% "detest" him. :roll: By all means, show us the poll that asks how many Americans "detest" the President.

The fact that 58% of the Country stated in the most recent Newsweek poll that they just wished that the Bush Presidency would be over with.....yeah...I think thats a pretty good indication that most people in this country...except for a few...have grown to detest this "leader".

Do you really need it spelled out to you with specific words..? Oh...yes....from your history of posts I would say that you probably do.

I haven't seen this poll or the quote "We just wish the Bush presidency would be over." But if it actually exists, it would mean that they wish the Bush presidency would be over.

Where's the part about detesting him?

The president’s approval ratings are at their lowest point in the poll’s history—30 percent—and more than half the country (58 percent) say they wish the Bush presidency were simply over

And again....this speaks for itself. When was the last time that over half the country said that they just wanted a particular President's term to be over.....oh....yeah....Nixon...and I think even he had a high rating than King George at the time.
 
don't all far-right wingnuts complain of media bias? In truth, the facts are biased.

the amusing thing about this is, practically everywhere you turn, despite Bush's abysmal ratings, despite his incredibly unpopular agenda, despite all Bush's failings, despite the incredibly outrageous scandals various Republicans have been caught up in, the mainstream media are still practically permeated by administration-friendly voices. name any entity, and other than Democracy Now, the NYT, or MSNBC, you're going to have a hard time coming up with a hardcore Liberal.

sure, you see lots of news that makes Bush look bad. but this is merely the mirror being held up to the administration. if GHWB were objective at all, he'd know it. he himself is completely at odds with the current administration when you compare his reasoning for not invading Iraq.

But take Time magazine for instance. As Eric Alterman recently observed:

I opened up my Time magazine last Thursday while waiting in the airport for my flight to be greeted by the following columnists:

* Richard Brookhiser, conservative National Review editor, war supporter.
* William Kristol, conservative Weekly Standard editor, war supporter, anti-liberal McCarthyite.
* Joe Klein, war supporter, war opposer, anti-liberal McCarthyite.
* Peter Beinart, liberal/neocon New Republic editor, war supporter.

does GHWB complain of "hostility" from within the Republican party, when members of his own party turn against GWB? I'm guessing he doesn't. the media are always a convenient target. it's a convenient dodge.

Please note that no examples were given in the article: "It's one thing to have an adversarial ... relationship -- hard-hitting journalism -- it's another when the journalists' rhetoric goes beyond skepticism and goes over the line into overt, unrelenting hostility and personal animosity," former President George Bush said.

Which journalists? What rhetoric? How is it personal?

If the media were truly as Bush says, they wouldn't have carried this story. In my opinion, this story isn't even news. So-and-so says this-or-that about so-and-so. Big deal. The old man is insane. And the media isn't hostile. They need to sell product. Bush is incredibly unpopular.

the administration have even blamed the media for the war going badly. it was the same complaint. get junior some help. then it won't be necessary to whine about the media.

See....that's the problem with CurrentAffairs.....you could post a link that says that 58% of the public "loathe" GWB...and he would come back and say....."Where in the poll does it say detest?"
The poll could say that 58% of the public think that GWB is a complete moron.....and he would come back and say "Where in the poll does it say detest?"
....They only see what they want to see and then play oblivious to everything else.

I wish the Bush Presidency would be over with, and yet I don't detest him in the slightest.

You're making a pretty ridiculous assumption there.

Of course not. And I have not said anything close to that. Why must it be an extreme either/or? You are intentionally missing the simple point. The poll is a presidential approval rating, not a poll on how you may or may not detest someone.
