The title of the article is a bit misleading, but this is interesting.

They never called to report a theft according to their attorney either.

It just seems odd that there'd be a theft that according to the market wasn't a theft. Something doesn't add up here.

You guys saw him pay? All I saw was him leaning over the counter. You can't see his hands at that point.

Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. However, to say that the "video shows Michael Brown at the register, paying for the cigars" is a stretch of the truth no matter how hard you work at it.

I don't blame the store owners for not wanting to cooperate in anything that would make them even more of a target when they have already been threatened with death over this and their store has already been attacked and looted... and they have to stay in that neighborhood after this is all over. Just think about it. If you had all of your life savings invested in a store in a neighborhood like that, you would lie out of your ass to appease the crowd rather than put your business and especially your life at risk.

At this point, we have no idea what the truth is, however, one thing is clear - the video doesn't show him actually paying for anything.

In any case, the investigation should be done by feds and not locals.

So that the probability of a conflict of interest is visibly reduced. We obviously have a situation of civil unrest and failing public order so there are good reasons.

Legitimacy is extremely important and leaving this to a local judge and a police force that is a party to the problems would be careless of the responsibility to the people, foster distrust an provoke further unrest.

There's already way too much encroachment of the federal gov't. It's local jurisdiction and the same person that has been re-elected since the 90's should be the one and trusted enough to do so. Obviously locals know the area and with Holder's record of corruption how would that make it more legit.

I agree. The federal government has too much to do and gets involved in too many things, perhaps. But that does not mean i would trust the local police, politicians nor the judges in a case like this. And I have no immediate skin in this. I am White and all those things. But they are too inbred.
So if I don't trust them then there are tens of millions of minority members that will believe they are being cheated. Legitimacy will be lost and the injustice of the system will seem proven.

I'm actually mixed on this but lean more to local this particular time as I believe it's too easy for this particular AG to inject an agenda too. Jury selection should probably go to a wider 'audience'.
