He'll run for office and get elected.Brian Williams is going down hard. This is really bad since he voluntarily did this:

I am a sleptic here, I think the investigation and steping aside is only for appearances sake. He will be back, NBC has too much invested in him. He just signed a new contract taking him to the end of the decade.I don't believe the "voluntarily" bit for a moment. He's embellishing again, pretending the fact that his ass is in a sling and NBC has launched an investigation into not only his Iraqi "experiences", but also several other rather dramatic moments involving himself that he's told over the years didn't push him, kicking and screaming, to the edge of a cliff. Once his toes were over the side, and pebbles falling from beneath his feet, he simply said, "All right, I'll jump. But I'm doing it voluntarily."
I really liked the guy, but no more. I'm dreadfully disappointed in him.

Katie Couric may take over if he leaves. I like her, she was good on Today show when she was there.

What really matters is ratings, ratings. That creditability stuff means nothing to the corporate media as long as the ratings are there. if they suffer, he will be gone. IMOHe may very well be back, he'll just be back with zero credibility and questionable ethics. If that's what NBC wants to project, I wish them well.
Fox Newa will hire him and he will verify the WMD assertions by that network.

I guess I shouldn't feel sorry for Williams, but I do anyway. He's correct; right now he is the news rather than reporting it, so he and his network need this leave of absence. But however much we love to see the mighty knocked off their pedestals, I think Americans are a forgiving folk and that if the mea culpas are sufficiently groveling enough, he'll be back.
