If it is to be considered a national threat, it would be because of the trillions of dollars it would cost trying to combat it.
The Trump administration will reverse course from previous Obama administration policy, eliminating climate change from a list of national security threats. The National Security Strategy to be released on Monday will emphasize the importance of balancing energy security with economic development and environmental protection, according to a source who has seen the document and shared excerpts of a late draft.

Can anybody tell me what the threat is actually of?
I mean the bad bit. Given the sea level rise is not going to flod any city that spends as much as it does on traffic lights on sea defences?
Climate changes have always had a massive impact on humans. Massive migrations, the fall of empires, plagues, famine etc.
Here's an example of the last mini-ice age
Little Ice Age, Big Consequences - History in the Headlines
Some speculate that the Fall of Rome coincided with North American volcanic activity which led to a change in climate resulting in large migrations of populations.
Places that currently grow our crops and feed the world become less arable. A large percentage of the population in the world lives on lower lying coastal regions.

Why is it a 'national security threat' in the first place?
Why is it a 'national security threat' in the first place?
Long range planning is always important. Climate change from AGW is expected to have lots of ramifications.
Mass migration of populations, increasing refugees and instability, among other things.
Planning for an open Arctic sea- and strategizing how to limit Russia from taking it over.
Sea level rise at Naval harbors.
All the armed services agree, and have incorporated these things in their long range planning.
It’s easily found by a simple search. The fact that you are completely ignorant of it and have to ask the question above is quite telling.
Read something:
U.S. Military Prepares for Sea-Level Rise and Other Climate Change Impacts Despite Opposition
You know, I'm getting tired of people being snarky and insulting just because I ask a ****ing question. Excuse the **** out of me!
I think it's neither. You think it’s a national security issue and not civilian one?
That's really gross!
I think it's neither.
AGW theory is a tool for Government.
Tools like AGW alarmism and others serve as the water in the classic "Boiling Frog" experiment ... only with Government it's gone beyond experimentation.
It gets you accustomed to accepting Government growth and dependence.
You know ...
PLUS: Besides the political advantages, there's a whole lot of Government money to be had.

Greetings, bubba. :2wave:
:agree: What they tell us, and what the truth might be, are two different stories! With a national debt in excess of $20 trillion dollars and climbing, we don't seem to have money for infrastructure repairs and replacement, plus paying even the yearly interest due on that debt is already becoming a problem, but we better have the billions available for any country who wants it because we will all be doomed if AGW is not funded by us? Riiight! :bs:
Since you asked and got jumped on by someone who's still trying to establish themself as knowledgeable by being snarky & insulting (it's what he does and it never works), I'll take a shot.
For one thing, global sea level rise is measured in several millimeters per year.
In the 20th century, global sea level had only risen around 7 inches.
Now, for sea level to be perceived as rising almost double that rate somewhere in less time, there must be something else going on because the higher rate isn't a global phenomenon.
What it is, involves the land. Among other land related influences, the land in some locations is sinking. Norfolk is one of those places.

We needn't get into the fact that sea level everywhere has been rising for 20,000 years (the current interglacial period) ... obviously without assistance from human and fossil fuels.
That would make more heads explode.
Thank you. The 'security' part is what threw me, but with the military involved it makes more sense.
Yeah, the military would obviously be more nervous because what they perceive is sea level rise.
It's necessary that naval stations are located with access to water.
It's unfortunate that the one in Norfolk just happens to be on, let's say, "squishy" land that's "sinking".
But this episode does show how events that are not caused by climate change are blamed on climate change nonetheless.
I haven't bothered to look but if one were to do a search on the Norfolk subject, I suspect that whatever hits are returned will be traceable to very few original sources ... perhaps only one ... and is likely Government funded.
