This is BIGLY, folks.
Maybe. China has failed to meet commitments in the past. North Korea is China's best weapon against the U.S. They won't give it up easily.

Yes, but they have a choice: Keep trading with NK or keep trading with the US. They cannot do both.
This is very good news if China is serious about it. They are NK's main lifeline.
I think they are. As much as Russia and China like to play antagonist to the US and the West, I don't think any of us really want war and certainly I cannot believe that any of the major powers want some mad man throwing nukes about. They're happy to look away when NK is just making its idle threats, but I don't think they are comfortable with the new game Un is playing.
But we'll see how it all works out.
They don't have to give it up. They need to squeeze out Shorty Pants.
The executive order names the targeted state as "North Korea" and not by its proper name. Does that make it null and void, I wonder?
It is a legal document so it must properly identify the government and state against which it is aimed, no?
Cheers.

The only real problem I see now is that Kim, in direct defiance to orders from China, just might be crazy enough to attack someone. Trump doesn't want that to happen, but if it does it'll be time to let slip the Mad Dogs of war. I'm hoping China has a good leash on the Rocket Man.

Could we translate it for you?
I don't think Kim plans on attacking anyone. NK has been threatening the world for decades. They use their aggressive behavior, and the backlash it gets, as propaganda to help keep the population in line. This is a big move from China, and it might just be what it takes to get Kim to strategically back down and return to making dumb threats without the missile launches.
fmw:
It should be the "Peoples Democratic Republic of Korea" in English, not 'North Korea', which is an unofficial name. If a legal document does not properly identify the person against whom the legal action is directed then it is null and void in most Western legal systems. States are legal persons. So I wonder if this executive order has been crafted correctly and is legal or not.
Cheers.

Trump might walk things back to seal a deal, but right now, that's not enough. He's calling for the complete denuclearization of NK.
It would be nice if that were to happen, but there is no way NK will go for that. They saw what happened to other nations that gave up their WMDs.
It's more likely he's actually not.
Trump on the other hand... Is more than capable of mishandling the situation greatly and getting alot of people killed.
Just out of curiosity, which leader do you think is more dangerous in that regard, Trump or Un?
