Bravo, Senator Bernie Sanders

I hope that the purpose of posting Sanders' wise words were meant for ALL audiences and not as a suggestion that one particular side is the only violent side and the only cowardly side, because THAT would defeat the message Sanders intended.

He is, of course, correct but it's just words. What has Sanders actually DONE to end political violence?

Nothing.

Words are cheap when there is no action taken to back up those words.

Just out of curiosity, what have YOU done to end political violence or go one step further, to end violence period?
I bet I won't get an answer other than snark. Then again, I wouldn't expect a lucid answer from you.

I disagree. His words are exactly what we need right now. Notice what he didn't say. He didn't try to make this about gun legislation. He didn't try to imply Kirk contributed the environment that killed him. He simply spoke out against political violence in entirely unqualified terms. I don't agree with Sanders on much of anything, but he did exactly the right thing here.

This stands in stark contrast to political leaders over the last 24 hours making statements that lacked outrage over Kirk's murder and instead pushed a political agenda.

Of course you'd go there, and because you did what Sanders said sailed over your head. It is about discourse, not action as that is violence.

Name one thing your Lord Trump, that you support to no end, has done to end political violence. It is worth asking since Trump loves words, and by your own standard put up something.

It means you cannot convince people of the correctness of your ideas, & you have to impose them by force.

Sort of like democratic socialism, where "convince" is code for "mobilize a voting bloc and legislate away someone else's money". How is that not using force to impose your ideas?

What has Trump done to end it? He has a far better platform to make a difference. He won't even honor an assassinated democrat politician.

Nonsense.

What part of "He is, of course, correct" do you not understand?

It is about discourse,
Discourse, on the part of a Senator, is useless without action following the words.

not action as that is violence.
Wait...action to end political violence is...violence?

LOL!! Okay.

This thread has nothing to do with Trump.

Your deflection, while entirely predictable, is rejected.

Bye.

Your inability to answer your own challenge is why you are running away with a "bye."

What action do you propose to end political violence?

It was your own standard, now put something up or admit you made it all up.

I have to disagree. Cooler heads need to prevail here.

Does that (bolded above) apply to TrumpSpeak when it includes doing X is “coming soon”, will happen on “day one” or “in two weeks”, but dong X never happens?

sigh...

It's not up to me to come up with a solution. I'm not a Senator, nor am I a political figure. But Sanders is both of those and he is the one who only has words...no solutions.

Cut Bernie some slack today. His statement on the Kirk killing is deserving of praise and out not be qualified with problems related to his political views.

Well, if you insist on deflecting to Trump...okay. I'll just say this: I've seen more action from Trump backing up his words, whatever the ultimate timeline, than I've ever seen from Sanders or any other political figure.

Where is the ‘promised’ TrumpCare, which will cover everyone and cost less? Where is the reduction in annual federal deficit (stimulus?) spending which will (soon?) pay down the national debt?

That is a cop out, and worse you cannot apply your own standard to anyone else you do support.

Very telling.

Sounds like what we've heard from republicans on solutions for mass shootings for decades.

The only thing that can help right now are words. Sanders did the exact right thing at the right time.

What's missing is the same from Trump. Unfortunately, we all know he's incapable of unifying the nation. Every knee jerk response from Trump is to demonize the other.
