Interesting.
Hey, Quinn didn't deliver on his promises and they should decline to support him.
This just doesn't happen, they must be a group of Uncle Toms.
They use to vote Democrat.....there is a coalition of them that did come out and endorse Quinn. But then Quinn was hit with his ethics problem. Illinoisans are tired of one party rule. Including Chicagoans.
I'll believe that when they get rid of Rahm.
I've read several different accounts of black ministers breaking away from the Democratic party over a number of issues. The organization called the Black Republican often highlights such things. There seems to be a growing number of black ministers who are calling for an exodus from the Democratic party. One reason is the Democrats support for same sex marriage. Another is the breakdown of the black family where 70% of their babies are born out of wedlock and blacks hold one of the highest abortion rates. These ministers in part blame government dependency for this situation promoted by the left. They claim it takes away the incentive for marriage when a child can be raised through government programs. They claim that so many born to single moms without a father present in the child's life has led to the high imprisonment of black males.
Do you have some sources?
I'm interested in verifying this claim. Not specifically that black church leaders are supporting some Republicans, we know they are. I am interested in verifying the reasons that you give. In the case that is linked to here the reason given is that the incumbent has failed and the challenger has promised to look out for their interests, nothing is mentioned about same sex marriage, breakdown of black family, blaming the government, etc.
In 2012 when the Democratic party endorsed same sex marriage at their convention along with President Obama, an outcry in protest from the Black community arose. Here is one such video calling for a breaking away of a party that does not share their moral values. This minister not only mentions same sex marriage but the damage that abortion has done to the black community also heavily supported by the Democratic party.
Like I mentioned earlier, you can search the archives of the Black Republican association for such commentary or do your own search on YouTube. It's out there. You may also want to check Thomas Sowell's articles which he has extensively written on the issue of the destruction of the Black family directly linked to government and programs associated with the Democratic party as well as other prominent Black commentators. More and more Black pastors are coming out making the same claims as they deal with the aftermath of such policies on Black families first hand.
No he isn't a "lifelong Republican activist". For a good part of his adult life he was a Democrat who served in the Marines and became a minister. It's when the Democratic party started supporting issues he found to be in violation of his own conscience, he switched sides. But Martin Luther King was a life long Republican and a black minister too. I doubt very much he would be a supporter for Same Sex Marriage and abortion either. I doubt he would see the out of wedlock birthrate at 70% among blacks acceptable or appreciate the rhetoric out of the Democrat party during an election cycle that Republicans want to put Blacks back in chains. In fact I have no doubt he would be appalled at the effort to use the civil rights movement as a means to justify same sex marriage. There are more and more black ministers being vocal about their disdain for the Democratic party. YouTube has several such interviews and such posted. And ironically this increase became apparent in 2012 when the first black president endorsed same sex marriage a huge flip flop from his campaign days of 2008.That's a lifelong Republican activist who happens to be black trying to convince Democrat black church leaders to switch parties. Not exactly what I was looking for. Anything else?
