Samuel "Curt" Johnson III, whose family has run home-products giant SC Johnson for five generations, was convicted of fourth-degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to four months in jail, short of the one-year maximum. He was also fined $6,000.
It'd be nice if they "accidnetly" put him in general population for that 4 months. Make a special prison uniform that says "Billionaire Pedophile."
So it appears but given the reported lack of cooperation from the victim and her family and the lack of any other significant evidence, it was probably the best outcome achievable.A mere slap on the wrist.
Why bother with court cases at all then. Why not just mob rule based on media coverage? It'd be nice if they "accidnetly" put him in general population for that 4 months. Make a special prison uniform that says "Billionaire Pedophile."
Reading the article it says the girl told the investigators this all started after she finished sixth grade and that he had exposed himself, fondled her under her clothes and kissed her breasts and elsewhere.
But here is the catch. The girl and her mother refused to cooperate or testify against him. You have a daughter just finishing the 6th grade and some old fart in his 50's is fondling her and you refuse to place charges?
Am I missing something here, or was there a little cash gift given to the girl and her mother?
Good thing he didn't drive drunk and kill a poor girl while at it - he might have gotten off completely.
Mother and victim might have filed a civil lawsuit, and settled out of court, and if they had, the amount would most likely be undisclosed.
It's not because he's a billionaire; it's because the victim accused him of fondling her between 15-20 times but now refuses to cooperate, so a felony has been downgraded to a misdemeanor.
Pedo, once he was satisfied he wasn't being recorded, admitted to the mother that he had exposed himself, touched her daughter, etc.
So now he'll spend the night for a few months in the county motel and under "Huber Rules," permission to work while incarcerated. For a felony.
So some people are thinking, "Money talks..."
Never having to worry about money again...college education paid for...many would be tempted.
Yet another example on a long list of them that shows that there are 2 distinct legal systems: one for the rich & one for everyone else.
I thought that too, kind of screwed up I think.
Definitely is, and has been for a very long time - Tocqueville wrote about it in the early 1800's, but the concept extends back to the dawn of civilization.
Good thing he didn't drive drunk and kill a poor girl while at it - he might have gotten off completely.
-- A judge on Wednesday ordered that Ethan Couch -- who drove drunk and caused a crash, killing four people and injuring two -- go to a lock-down residential treatment facility.
State District Judge Jean Boyd had already decided the Texas teenager would serve no jail time. He was sentenced last year to 10 years' probation.
The fundamental problem with this case is the alleged victim didn't want to cooperate.
Legally you cant do much with limited evidence.
Besides, his sentence isn't that unusual at all given the lack of evidence.
I know every person who hates the rich want's the guy to get life in prison but that is not how the judicial system works.
That was one of the most horrible - ridiculous cases on injustice I have ever seen. That kid should have got at least 10-years.
I don't see how believing "you're above the law because you have money" is an actual defense.
The most ridiculous or ironic thing about this case is that the taxpayers will be paying for 75% of his "treatment."
