I agree with a lot of what Bill Maher says here, but I don’t like this equivalency he makes between the Left and the Right, as though both sides are “equally” bad. IMO, the Left is worse than the Right. MUCH worse.

Well then maybe the left should do a friendly little tour of the Capitol while calling to hang the vice president. Should be fine. Better than coming up with a healthcare plan, right?

Watched the first bit, useless IMO. Democrats and Republicans do need to unite, but not like he says - over oligarchy and corruption, which he seems to be FOR.
 
Name one thing Maher said in that clip that was wrong (and I can see the love hate relationship between conservatives and Maher rages on.)
 
Anyone who believes Fox News or Bill Maher has got major issues.

Bill Maher has said repeatedly that Trump and the right are far worse.....because they are. And he told Nancy Mace that on Friday night, too.

People can criticize Maher all they want, but he recognized way before any of the Democratic hand-wringers in Congress that Trump would not concede the 2020 election and what a threat to democracy he was.
 
I tire of the MAGA "Watch my video" crowd.

Rarely if ever an idea of their own.

He was comparing marginal Left (I had never even heard of "land acknowledgement" or if I had, I immediately forgot about it) with mainstream Republican.

No, your critique was about one statement mixed with others where ultimately he was talking about something else entirely. Dealing with two ideologies that refuse to get along, if that is still beyond you then so was everything he said.

The Left has a crazy minority in their base that they give far too much power and influence to. The American Right has a crazy and ignorant majority in their base that they are beholden to.

Cultural leftists are absolutely ****ing insufferable. You will get no argument out of me on that one. However, they don't have real political power and will never enjoy broad political power. Someone that can only be elected in a D+30 district, will never win a national election. They don't win power for Democrats, they cost Democrats power.

In contrast, the cultural right, with all of it's ignorance and authoritarian tendencies, has power. We live in a country where the majority of Americans read at 6th grade level or lower. The majority of educated, informed Americans didn't vote for Trump. The problem is, they aren't in the majority. This isn't Finland, the majority of Americans are poorly informed. Far more Americans get their news from TikTok or Instagram Reels, than from The Wall Street Journal or The Atlantic.

If we lived in a country with an educated electorate, our leaders would range from people like George H.W. Bush on the right to people like Bill Clinton or Obama on the left.

Instead, we get what a Brit did a great job of describing here:

He was making a point that still is sailing over your head.

It was not about each one of those items, it was about how division using these subjects got us to this point and why Democrats refuse to look at themselves for any culpability.

But going on thinking false equivalence when considering approval ratings for Democrats crossed multi-decade lows recently.
