Bill Clinton on Ukraine: This is our war

Regardless, our commitment to their security isn't removed because we say 'oh we decided something about the weapons later'. We made the deal. You don't get to pay someone to weed your yard, then say 'you know, the weeds weren't that terrible a problem, so you don't deserve to get paid for the weeding'.

We kind of do. No one can make us uphold our agreements. But we can be punished with no one coming to the table unless we force them to in demonstrations of naked military and imperial might.

Yes and by gains you mean Russian gains. You always take Russia's side.
no i mean the gains by the west. instead of just taking the new detente - the west -Clinton was the first- decided to expand NATO

NATO membership must be requested by the country first and then the membership decides whether the request is approved. Clinton has no part in that. No President or leader of any country can decide which countries join NATO and that includes Putin. That would defeat its purpose.

He's got a point.

Clinton convinced them to give up their nukes, then we failed to provide security when they invaded in 2014 under Obama and again in 2022 under Biden , so yes, clealy we should be pointing the finger at Marco Rubio. 🤪

How so? Because it requires something of us now?

Because Clinton is mostly wrong even though his own policy was misguided.
Learn your history. Ukraine’s decision to denuclearize in 1994 was influenced by multiple factors, not just U.S. pressure.
However, and that said, Putin broke all the norms when invading a sovereign country. The war in Ukraine is Putin's fault.

You point fingers at the people in charge at the moment and that is little Marco. He sold his soul to Trump and I hope he chokes. He appears to be at the edge of vomiting every time I see next to Trump. BTW the US has had a policy to restrict nuclear proliferation forever. Clinton did not invent it.

What was wrong was the appeasement of Putin and Trump appears to be doubling down on it. Ukraine gave up their nukes to show the world that they were a peaceful nation that wanted to join europe and the US as a responsible democracy. Something that took a back seat to Russian energy for europe while the US became obsessed with detente with Russia.

Fixed that for ya (y)

The US, Britain, and Russia signed the Budapest Memorandum security guarantee. The 3 most influential countries in 1994.

Nothing is even remotely guaranteed unless it is duly ratified and becomes a legal Treaty.

That's why Zelenskyy is not going to fall for any "Article 5 like" security guarantee hokum.

Been there done trhat.

Marco Rubio did not convince anyone to give up nukes.

Marco Rubio did not convince anyone to give up nukes.

Marco Rubio was not even out of High School in 1994.

What sort of crap are you posting my Trump/Putin-loving friend?
