Bill Burr Ruthlessly Mocks Bill Maher In Incredibly Satisfying Watch

Here's one sample for those who don't want to bother with the video:

Nice to see someone knock Maher down a few pegs every once in a while.

Burr is the goat. What a great person...

Maher has turned from critiquing imperialism to now full scale promoting it...

I hope I don't turn out like this once I grow older

Maher is not "promoting imperialism". That is a wild exaggeration.

Maher does a better job criticizing Trump than just about any liberal on TV. Not sure what all this silly whining about Maher is about.

Maher did a great job criticizing Merrick Garland last week, and the horrible job that Garland has done holding Trump accountable. --

Maher on Iraq:

It's been a theme for the decade: celebrities we admire growing up turning out to be major disappointments. Maher was that guy: Yeah he's a dick, but he's our dick and he owns the neocons and evangelicals. Now he's just a dick trying to be some right-libertarian contrarian.

"Bill Maher is on the side of ethnic cleansing"....says this idiot host.

And Maher is the asshole?? That is such a reckless, obscene exaggeration.

This host is actually quite jealous of Maher's success, it's kind of sad to watch.

People don't want intellectual or ideological consistency, or even a jaundiced consistent willingness to to critique power these days. They want Tribalist Pugilists who "own" the other team and never - ever - point out where our own tribe may have gone astray. They hate Maher for basically the same reason GOPsters hate Liz Cheney: because he was consistent enough to turn his criticism against the Tribe.

Maher may be good at some things, but he's not without some major flaws. And lately those flaws are showing up far more frequently. Unless one is a devoted fan or an old lib who doesn't like the younger generations, Maher has lost his appeal.

Just look at some of the YT comments on Maher's podcast page about this episode:

"You're like the guy who has a fantasy football team and thinks he's a f'ing GM" That was gold.

After watching this I realized. The world needs a "Roast of Bill Maher" hosted by Bill Burr.

"One of the best things you did for society is you didn't have kids." LMAOOOO

Watching Burr not let Maher railroad his points was so effing refreshing.

Bill Who and Bill Who??

One of the smartest things you've ever said!

This criticism of Maher is idiotic. Maher was the only liberal on TV back in 2018 or 2019 saying that Trump would never concede the 2020 election. And Maher was correct, when all of the mealy-mouthed Democrats in Washington and the mainstream media were wrong, saying that would never happen. Well, it happened.

All these whiny college kids should be a lot more concerned about Trump and saving this country's democracy and less concerned about Israel's war mistakes.

Another wild exaggeration. Israel has a right to defend itself from terrorist attacks.

If Hamas would return the hostages they took 7 months ago, this war would end.

Israel has a right to defend itself, but it doesn't have a right to carpet bomb most of Gaza killing tens of thousands and trigger a famine. Compared to the IDF, our military handled the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars with kid gloves... and look how those aged!

When Burr is on, he's on.

Confession time: I still think *some* of what Bill Maher says is on point, and he is funny sometimes.

But lately, he's just getting to be more relatable to people who become HOA board members.

I, too, am glad Burr take him down once in a while.

There is zero comparison to Liz Cheney. Liz got dropped by the MAGAts because she called out their Dear Leader. Leftists and many libs have dropped Maher because he started spouting rightwing bullshit. And when he's doing that, the 'dickhead elitist' schtick gets old real fast.

Both of them are tools, though I concede that Maher was a bit more grounded than Burr.

"Why can't Putin and that guy in Ukraine get together on a podcast and...work things out?"

Okay.

Both of them are tools.

Meh. I can understand why some don't like Burr's schtick, but I think he has that 'cool uncle' appeal.

Plus he's f***in hilarious in F is for Family.

Nope. I don't have to agree with someone 100% of the time to be a fan of that person. Maher's show on TV is the only show where you can still get Democrats and Republicans to talk to each other in a respectable manner. That HAS to count for something.

Saying that Israel has a right to defend itself is heresy??? Sorry, it is not. It's only heresy to a bunch of idiot college kids who know nothing about the history of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

Sorry...but that is a very rude, arrogant comment. Burr comes across as a much bigger asshole than Maher does, if you want to know the truth.

Burr is very smug and it's obvious that he doesn't know nearly as much as Maher does...that is the very definition of being a asshole.

I don't really know anything about Burr. I do know a lot more (at least in the context of entertainment) about Maher, I think he was relatively okay but turned into a dipshit as he changed his gimmick to appeal to right wing culture warriors. But in the parts of the video that I saw, Maher had a better understanding of how basic reality works.

"Why is war still legal?"
"Because somebody needs to enforce that law, and whoever enforces it is now at war."

Although maybe I'm giving Maher too much credit. The bar was pretty low there and he didn't exactly need to hurt his hip in order to step over it.

And yes, Maher was a tool for generalizing college kids as pro-Hamas.

Nobody said that you had to.

You mean like Hannity and Colmes?

Saying that Israel has a right to defend itself is heresy???

Huh?

Sorry...but that is a very rude, arrogant comment.

Maher is all about the rudeness and arrogance. Seriously, dude?

Yes, Burr comes across as an asshole. So what? Sometimes you need an asshole to knock down arrogant pricks like Maher.

Burr is very smug and it's obvious that he doesn't know nearly as much as Maher does...that is the very definition of being a asshole.

You seem upset.

I wouldn't worry about it. No small part of his change is because he was financially incentivized to as his audience changed. I don't think he is lying about his opinions, but I think his actual opinions changed because he is a political pundit.

As long as you don't take up a career in talk radio you should be ok :)

That's not "ethnic cleansing". It's recklessness, but it's not ethnic cleansing. If Israel wanted to wipe Gaza off the map and kill everybody in Gaza, they could. But they haven't done it.

However, if Hamas had the military capability, they would kill every single Jew in Israel.

Your host fails to even mention Hamas, because he is so busy whining about Maher....and that is why your host is an asshole.
