I honestly can't think of a more important, solemn speech by any President since FDR during World War II and the Great Depression.

Biden made it perfectly clear what is at stake in November -- Representative Democracy itself.

I thought Biden did a magnificent job explaining why he is not running for re-election....because he loves his country more than he loves being President. He knows that he is no longer the most effective communicator to combat the danger that we currently face. A true patriot. I truly believe that Biden will go down as one of this country's greatest Presidents.

Biden put the challenge to the American people -- it's now in their hands to decide the future of this country. The American voter has to decide if they care enough about democracy to come out in record numbers in November and save it from Trump and this dangerous fascist MAGA movement.

Agreed. We are definitely living in unprecedented times. Biden was a true statesman in his speech. It was bittersweet because as much as I will miss this President who put his heart and soul into our county it was clear that we needed "new voices" (as he put it) in the race to create enthusiasm. I don't think any of us were on DP cheering over Trump almost being assassinated and denigrating him during that incident. A President stepping down is no less of a major event and you can at least have the decency to respect that as well. It's called Emotional Intelligence. Look it up.

Everything he accomplished with razor thin majorities in the house, and a tied senate (as well as a radicalized GOP hell bent on destroying him) is nothing short of amazing. I have a lower opinion of the speech - it did not address the bigger issues - but as far as great speeches, two speeches within 48 hours were both much better and among the best ever, JFK's civil rights speech and "peace speech".
