(CNN) - President Joe Biden will speak at 7:30 p.m. ET on "a successful counterterrorism operation" against al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, the White House said Monday.

"Over the weekend, the United States conducted a counterterrorism operation against a significant Al Qaeda target in Afghanistan. The operation was successful and there were no civilian casualties," a senior administration official said.

Joe is really looking for some kind of a win isn't he. So the US launches a drone hit on an al-Qaeda operative in Afghanistan and Joe is going on TV to claim some glory. Last time Joe did anything in Afghanistan he cost 13 Americans their lives and countless afghanies. You go JOe. How about taking care of our border here at home.

It is great news.
But Moon, you bring up reporting and I would feel a whole lot better about all of this if there was some western news agency in the area that could verify it as there are no western reporters currently in Afghanistan to verify this government report.
I wish I could trust my government, but I can't because it has lied to its people over and over again.
I really want to believe it. They just reported the reporters are being given the details of the strike.

That’s definitely a big negative. We can reach targets “over the horizon”, but we don’t have anyone on the ground to gather more intel or even to confirm the kill. There certainly are questions to be asked and I hope we get some clear answers.

Do you think a president plays an active role in an operation like this.

Anytime a someone tries to give their president much credit for something like this that was carried out by the DOD and our intelligence agencies it demonstrates just how big of a partisan that person is. And they are usually the same people who will then act like it’s nothing to credit the president for when he is from the other side.

Do you think if trump had still been president that the work of the CIA and our SOF folks would have come up with a different result.
