Biden pulls out list of Republicans he says are taking credit for rescue plan they opposed

During a speech in Cleveland, President Joe Biden pulled out a list of Republican lawmakers he said was taking credit for the American Rescue Plan, the $1.9tn Covid relief bill they opposed.

“My Republican friends in Congress, not a single one of them voted for the rescue plan,” Mr Biden said.

“Back in their districts, they're bragging about the rescue plan. They touted the restaurant revitalisation fund, they touted... grants to community health care centres... I mean some people have no shame,” Mr Biden said.

Republican hypocrisy can’t be understated. The voted against the plan and then go back home and try to take credit for all the good stuff is in it.

I should start a thread claiming Democrats claim Biden is so demented they have to take away his ability to order a nuclear weapons strike. Obviously that is the view of Democratic lawmakers since 25 said so.

The names and quotes have been all over the news. But you wouldn't know that because you get all your news from sources that are pre cleansed of any facts that contradict the Republican narrative.

"Independent restaurant operators have won $28.6 billion worth of targeted relief,” Senator Roger Wicker celebrated in the tweet.

“This funding will ensure small businesses can survive the pandemic by helping to adapt their operations and keep their employees on the payroll,” he added.

The senator did not mention in the tweet that he had voted against the legislation

X Senators didnt vote they take no credit...... Well played.

I mentioned this in another thread, but why does it have to be Republican ONLY and all the way or Democrat ONLY and all the way.

I bet in the American Rescue plan as Horrible (my opinion) as whole it is. There is some good and potentially very good things to it. Sadly its lumped together rather than strategically passing single bills to target things.

The strategy IS to lump it and stick "crap" in there at the same time.

So just because X senator didnt vote for it as a whole, doesnt mean that certain things that were in it, would not and could not help their constituents so he can still be appreciative of it.

What ever happened to "Unity" Biden could have said thank you for the compliment. You didnt vote for it, but see the value in it. We should work together next time.

Dana Perino had quite a little segment today on the childishness of this Biden list and the "unity" message he campaigned on. She's typically very diplomatic but was not at all complimentary of Biden today. She chose one name on the list and clarified what that man actually said - quite a different reality than either taking credit or wanting anything to do with taking credit for that bill.

Then tell them you didn't vote for it because of those other things and let the people decide if that is good enough of a reason, let them determine if why you didn't vote for it was really worth it. Don't be vague, be specific.

That is pretty funny. But it's going to be typical of Republicans. They'll oppose everything Biden wants, but if Biden gets positive results, they'll take credit for it. Their base will eat it up too.
