As more stuff leaks it appears that Biden disregarded the many warning he got from his crew, the pentagon and the intelligence agency. Well maybe not his crew. As president he has the authority to go his own way but his plan better be good, and it wasn't.
The pentagon offered this statement, paraphrase, "This withdrawal turned to chit faster than we thought" Once again, bad things do happen. My question is What in the hell was Biden's plan B? He obviously didn't have one. He is not a military genius, he is just an old fool.

To be clear, how much longer should the US have spent uselessly tilting at windmills?

Get on the same page please. This is not about leaving or not leaving. I is all about the absolute disaster Biden created. By the way did you ask Obama the same question?

I notice you didn't answer my question so I'll ask it again: How much longer should the US have spent uselessly tilting at windmills? Give a time frame.

How did Biden create it? What mistake did he make specifically?

The Taliban created this "disaster" not Biden. What was Biden's error?

I am in favor of leaving but once again that is not the issue. Biden is rightfully being slammed because he screwed it all up and put thousands in mortal danger. At the start of his magnificent plan we had 2500 soldiers in Afghanistan. We now have 7000. Explain to me how that is a good outcome?

A Pentagon paraphrase. God you boys have got nerve.

Because the additional troops are necessary temporarily to protect the evacuation of US assets and personnel. Would you rather we leave them totally undefended?

The question here is more about the incompetent withdrawal than why or if we should get out. If you decide to move, you don't generally burn down your house and the homes of all your neighbors.

Should Biden instead have followed Trump's timeline and withdrawn in May with even less preparation and planning?

How much longer should our presence in Afghanistan have been extended?

Anybody playing dumb on this issue does not make sense. First, he pulled out during the fighting season instead of waiting for the winter when the rats scurried in to their holes.
Second, The main reason the Afghan army was able to fight to a stand still against the Taliban was our air power which Biden pulled out from beneath them. The Afghan army was willing to fight with our help but when Biden essentially told them stay the course but now you're going to have to get the job done with one arm behind your back. Lots of luck!
Three, he ignored all the experienced input and went his own failed way.
Four, the evacuation of our friends was an after thought. Shame on him.
Five, he had no plan B for when it all went south up north.
I am sure there is a Sixth but I have wasted enough time.

Wouldn’t be a forever war if we stayed less than forever. Lots of forever war folks taking the microphone this week.

No, I would rather Biden didn't make such a mess and therefor had to turn around and go back. Great plan, Joe.

You think Biden should not have pulled out of Afghanistan so soon? Wasn't it Republicans who mere months ago were blaming Biden for not pulling out fast enough? The original date was in May. And it was Trump that pulled air support, not Biden. And the input he was following was the agreement made by the Trump administration, and even then there wasn't enough time to accomplish everything that needed to be accomplished by May and so the date had to be pushed back. And the failure to evacuate of our friends was apparently the decision of the Afghan government, not Biden. And what happened to the historic peace deal that Trump negotiated with the Taliban to bring peace to the Middle East?

That said, there was a failure here: Biden's failure was moving too fast in attempting to not miss a stupid Trump deadline by too many months. While a failure on Biden's part, history will remember it as a small one if it remembers it at all outside of desperate conservative media. The larger failure clearly was going into Afghanistan in the first place to attempt to install a Democratic government. Leaving Afghanistan was not a failure, even if it could have been handled better. And it is in no way a victory for conservatives who were actively pressuring Biden to get out of Afghanistan immediately right up until they saw the actual results doing so.

Why can't I paraphrase when I don't remember the exact statement or quote? OH! I get it. Your just want me to get it wrong so that you can attack and deflect.

How about after spilling our blood and treasure along with trillions of dollars for 20 years, our leader does everything they can to ensure the Afghani people have a fighting chance to overcome the Taliban? Is that asking for too ****ing much? Biden did not do that. Biden did not listen to the rising reports of growing threats. He did it his way that involved a serious case of tunnel vision. What a total ****up.

Honestly. Did you not listen to Biden's speech? Did you not get that he was committed to withdrawing American troops whatever the results of the decision?

Did you forget WHO started this war, and WHICH President actually negotiated with the Taliban?
Partisan sniping, sheesh, not very original, nor analytical, just an opportunity to snipe.

Well, no. There's no evidence at all that he's a fool. The simple facts are a) his Pentagon advisors have been insisting for a long time that they've armed and trained the ASF well enough for them to take responsibility for their own country, and b) the Afghanis themselves failed to do it. They've known already for more than a year that Trump had planned to pull out, and they've known since Biden's campaign that he planned to pull out, so why anyone in Afghanistan should be shocked by these developments is absurd.

It's a good thing that our military answers to a civilian authority, because if the military made their own policy decisions, we would never ever leave Afghanistan.

So we'll just put OP down as "in favor of perpetual, unending war and all the expense that goes with it."
shrug...

Sure...you could do that...but you would be lying. It's up to you, dude.

It's almost as if Trump ****ed Biden over by pulling almost all US troops out last year and starting off the new administration with a commitment to getting out by May. Do you agree Trump's plan was ****ed up?
