The Biblical town of Emmaus, which is linked to Jesus’ resurrection and the Ark of the Covenant, may have been found | Fox News

Archaeologists in Israel may have discovered the Biblical town of Emmaus, which is linked to Jesus’ resurrection and the Ark of the Covenant.

Haaretz reports that archaeologists have uncovered the remains of a 2,200-year-old fortification at Kiriath-Jearim, a hill on the outskirts of Abu Ghosh, a village near Jerusalem.

Finkelstein and his fellow researchers suggest that the site could be the famous Biblical town, or village, of Emmaus. According to Christian tradition, Jesus appeared to two of his apostles on the road to Emmaus after his crucifixion and resurrection.

The woman next door used to walk a lot before Parkinsonism got to her. She died recently. My wife & I attended the memorial service where the minister quoted from Luke about the resurrected Jesus meeting 2 of his former apostles on the '7 mile' road from Jerusalem to Emmaus. Even given the distance, it still took the biblioarchaelogists over 2,000 years to find this place.

In an earlier life I used to listen to an FM station located in PA where there a number of towns named after places mentioned in the bible, like Nazareth, Bethlehem & Emmaus. A frequent advertiser was a car dealer who used the catch line at the end of his ads 'on the road to Emmaus.'
