Bernie calls for vote on BBB, and smaller bill if needed. He's right.

Don't see anything to disagree with in his comments. That the supposed conversations with Manchin and Senima are a waste of time to continue and there should be votes and that despite some great results Democratic voters are displeased with the results from the two blocking the Democratic agenda.

Yes Bernie Sanders the older gentleman who is sharp as a tack, seems is still an agile individual, always knows what he is talking about and was scaring the hell out of the Trump BS re-election team as well as
the DNC. The man with the smart approach.

Let's get on with it if for no other reason to keep the ALEC/GOP anti american no votes in the news. I love it.

Let's see.....Elizabeth Warren should replace Chuck Schumer!
AOC should replace Pelosi!

And Trump, the Oath Keepers and all of the elected officials that actively participated in any fashion putting the insurrection together should be transferred to the nearest hard time prison. = Cleaning the swamp a little bit more.

Standing Ovation for Bernie Sanders!!!!!

In my view, we must schedule a vote in the immediate future on a version of the Build Back Better bill that strengthens, not weakens, what the House has already passed. Surprising things occur when a bill comes to the floor and I am not convinced that we cannot get the 50 votes we'd need to pass the Build Back Better bill when the roll call takes place in the light of day.

Taking votes in hopes of "surprising things" happening is not a great strategy. Watching the Senate leadership flailing around makes me appreciate Pelosi all the more.

The Republican Party is working overtime to suppress the vote and undermine American democracy.

That is the first sentence of Sanders' screed. It is an outright lie. Should I expect anything else in that screed to be the truth?

I don't think so.

Face it big corporations and their campaign money going into those cookie jars controls the votes that screw many many many Americans. Then we get billed for those kickbacks as consumers. Lose lose.

I agree that this was too large of a bill. It should be broken up into pieces, each should then be voted on it's separate merits.

Good plan, if the GOP agrees not to filibuster each individual piece and instead allows the Senate to vote on each one.

The reason not to schedule votes for these kinds of bills is actually to protect the centrists from having to cast a vote that will either divide them from their base, or divide them from moderates help protect those seats from flipping with no real gain when the bill will be killed in the Senate anyway.

I think there's a no real chance of that strategy working regardless, with all the winds are blowing against the dems keeping that majority in either house. My goal now is to send a reasonable version of rest of our legislative agenda ( smaller bills might make sense )for a vote in the Senate and I want those votes to happen. I don't want it to be a progressive wish list that will just become yeast for 30 second attack ads. I don't want it to be such watered tea that 'will pass' the Senate. I want legislation that means something and could do something.

And then I want to continue to frame every one of the losses as failures of Sinema and Manchin's disingenuous argument. I want them primaried, and I want them out. If we are going to lose the Senate anyway, lets raise the profile of Dems in Colorado and West Virginia that will do what it takes to protect the rights of their own constituents to actually vote.

The only purpose those two served the Democrats this session was to help the Dems keep control over the committees and the gavel. If we are going to lose those anyway, why protect their careers with them so damned indifferent to needs of average Americans? We can play the 'long game' with their seats. I am fine with moderate or centrist Dems. I am not fine with ones you cannot trust to protect simple access to the ballot.

The BBB concept is real and necessary. However that was bit much for we the people to digest in one swallow. Now we can get down to the facts and hopefully weed out some pork. The cost sounds like
a horror story however in the big picture it is easily doable.

That is why other countries and wealthy from all around the world invest in USA bonds and such because the USA is solid in that respect. The GOP is really bogus when they pretend as if this is not a worthwhile expenditure failing to mention that yes even republicans in every state will benefit. Trump failed.

We taxpayers are furnishing some dollars for the BBB NOW get on with and take care of we the taxpayers for a change.

Who knows what the outcome will be but I think they will separate the environment initiatives from the social safety net issues and then pick a few from each bucket that are popular, easy to understand and have a bipartisan chance of passing. The result will be a small social safety net bill and a second small environmental bill. Will the GOP play.....I doubt it... but put the Bills on the floor and votes on the record. Best case the Dems have bipartisan win.Worse case the Dems have a good midterm campaign issue .

Stunt, nothing more nothing less.

Democrats and Sanders know they do not have the votes to pass as is, yet they want a floor vote so they have something new to weaponize.

This is the sort of nonsense that ensures Congress approval ratings continue to stay very low.

I agree with Bernie. Time to vote. Record the 52 "no" votes and move on. They've wasted far too much time on something that will never pass.

You're the one who went out of his way to correct the spelling. You have a vested interest in Sinema being spelled correctly?
I have my own reasons for it. I'm sure there are some here who get it. You obviously don't. Not my problem. Your curiosity is cringeworthy.

"Let's take a vote so we can show American people exactly what we already know, that 52 out of 100 Senators disapprove of the bill"

Seems like a waste of time.

Go back into the House and into committees and come back with legislation that can pass. Stop grandstanding about the BBB that won't pass.
