That makes no sense, the other claimants have no such things to point at. Also, Taiwan claims all of the Spratly's, which means that they aren't just stepping on China's title, but the claims of Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei and the Philippines, which for some seem to be no problem whatsoever.
the US would not win. in a modern nuclear war between superpowers, everyone loses.
The same way it has run since 1949. Chinese military industry is command driven, as is military industry in Russia.
Which you seem to see everywhere.
Greetings, Jack. :2wave:
I read today that China is spending at least one trillion dollars (American) creating a new "Silk Road" through Western China. This will bring modern conveniences, like tap water, to over 600 million people in that part of the country, which is mostly rural. They are providing construction jobs, so they hope to bring prosperity to a very poor area, and it is anticipated that many little towns will spring up along the road to provide places for travelers to eat and sleep.
Another ridiculous statement. Just because my focus is on the failed policies, with an interest in improvement, doesn't mean I think that all USFP is a failure.
Lucky for us you're here to settle all that.
I have never seen you post anything like that.
the seems nearly hopeless.
what funds the Chinese government?
Crucial sea lanes pass through the South China Sea, carrying a substantial portion of the world’s commerce. For U.S. leaders, that body of water is important both economically and strategically. As the world’s leading naval power and economic leader, the United States is not about to countenance an effort to convert the South China Sea into a de facto Chinese lake.
An explicit assertion of American interest in the area came early in the Obama administration, highlighted by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s speech to a meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in July 2010.
Washington’s rhetorical involvement in the South China Sea issue coincided with the announcement of the strategic “pivot” or “rebalancing” of U.S. military forces to establish a stronger presence in East Asia

There are many trading partners and China was going to become wealthy as soon as they freed up their economy, no matter what we did.
The Economist predicted that thirty years ago.
Sure China is enriched and sure the companies that outsource are enriched. But the people who lost their jobs to outsourcing and have to take a lesser paying job are not enriched. Should China as a result of being enriched because of companies outsourcing to China become our enemy then we as a whole nation will not be enriched.By establishing normal trade relations with China we enriched ourselves as well.
I am a patriotic American, not a **** sucking piece of **** globalist. So I do not want Chinese lifting themselves out of poverty at the expense of Americans. And btw, economic development has indeed lifted hundreds of millions of Chinese out of poverty.
Command economy.
there's not going to be a war with China, because neither side would win.
Chinese military industry is not dependent on trade with the U.S.
The islands, islets, reefs, are in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Philippines which is why the Phils in 2013 took the case to the UN Tribunal on the International Law of the Sea. The UN Tribunal however has heard only the Phils side of the case as Beijing won't show up to argue its case, nor is it ever going to appear before the Tribunal, despite Beijing signing the ILOS treaty. The UN Tribunal is going to have to rule against Beijing on this.
The CCP Boyz in Beijing don't care what the UN or its ILOS Tribunal say or what anyone says or thinks, they're taking over the islands and the SCS no matter what. Or so the CCP Boyz think...
There isn't going to be a war. It will be a low level intensity use of military resources. Already the Boyz in Beijing have unsuccessfully tried to take down Global Hawk drones operating over the islands and the construction areas. The Pentagon sent last week a new high tech littoral combat ship USS Fort Worth through the area which caused a commotion in Beijing and ignited a cat and mouse contest between the two Navies and Air Forces.
This could look like the beginning of Cold War II.
Actually, if a full-scale war were to break out between the US and China today, China would be comprehensively defeated because the US could very easily shut off all its imports and exports thereby completely crashing the Chinese economy.
cool. as we sift through destroyed cities hoping to find a can of food, we can all slap each other on the back and shout "we won!"
**** that, **** war, and **** dick measuring contests over islands that most of us didn't even realize existed.
You simply have no clue what you are talking about.
They own the islands, why can't they build military installations on them.
Good luck in Hawaii and along the west coast. I'll send non-irradiated canned food as soon as cross country shipping is restored. The horses have already advised me that they aren't available for that enterprise. Seems they've unionized behind my back because the pasture is lush. We'll see how that holds up next winter.
On the bolded. Why'd you make that statement? Besides the fact that it became US territory by conquest (see, it's always ok for us, just not anybody else) was US possession of Guam ever questioned, no, not by me. I mentioned Guam to point out that China has very real reasons for concern of their own, that you and others refuse to acknowledge!!! You don't think that China's looking at the US building this huge base on Guam, seeking a deep water port next door, stationing troops in Australia, and seeking use of Filipino bases as cause for concern, hmm?
Greetings, humbolt. :2wave:
"Whinnying" is close enough in sound to "whining" to be generally accepted, so be open-minded in your union negotiations, but watch body language...that will be critical when you get to the "sweet feed" subsection. It's the little things that cause the biggest problems! :lamo:
Neither has Chinese statements helped either- mouthpiece news outlets, speaking for the Govt have stated war can be possible. It's a non issue. China hasn't threatened to impede the shipping lanes, nor would they. This is about a US pivot towards containment of China, denying them a rise to power that has the neocons unraveling. Four years ago Obama made a speech in Australia that was directed straight at Beijing, so stern was it, that some Australian politicians were incensed by it because of the trade status between the two nations, they didn't appreciate the American president attacking China so from their country. We also are constructing a huge base in Guam, seeking to regain use of vietnams deep water port and negotiating the use of Filipino military bases!!!!! Looking at a map of the region, why in the hell wouldn't China be concerned? China is responding to US activities in their region, it's not them being the aggressors. Looks quite clearly to me that China is preparing themselves for a war that America is bringing to them.
On assuming power, the People‘s Republic of China (PRC) renounced all prior foreign agreements as unequal treaties imposed upon it during the "century of humiliation" and demanded renegotiation of all borders. The Sino-India border remains the only major territorial dispute, other than South China Sea disputes, that China has not resolved. China‘s growing assertiveness in its territorial claims, especially on Arunachal Pradesh, and its relentless development of infrastructure in Tibet will shape the prospects of Sino-India relations.
The territory stretching from the jungles of northern Myanmar, westward to the Karakoram Range, and northward to the edge of the Tibetan plateau can be seen as a single geopolitical system referred to as the Himalayan-Tibetan massif. The ruggedness of this terrain makes movement of men and materiel extremely difficult, thus preventing Indian and Chinese civilizations from intermingling or projecting military power in these remote areas effectively. Not until 1962 did the Chinese and Indian armies fight each other over these desolate heights, thus altering the geopolitics of the region significantly.
They always show up for that. And I boost the protein and other stuff during the winter, and all I get are them looking at each other and claiming it's the SOS. I'm under-appreciated. This will come up next fall. Assuming, of course, that we all aren't annihilated before then.
Unlike some here, I don't see WWIII looming over this. Whatever China seeks to gain, they seem to be losing on the other end as the Philippines are seriously considering inviting our navy back to Subic Bay.
