Since the start of the sexual revolution, men and women have been moving farther from each other in bed as bed size has gotten larger and larger. Of course, Americans have gotten fatter so that may also explain the larger bed sizes. But still, it suggests that sexual freedom now means “Get out of my personal space.”
Double beds (also known as Full) were the most common for two to sleep in until the 1960's. They're only 15" wider than a Single bed, leaving only 27" of sleep space for each of two adults. At 75" long, a Full size bed may be too short for some taller adults. Overall dimensions: 54" wide x 75" long

I’m pretty sure my wife an I are happier with a big bed than a small bed. We sleep better, which puts us in a better mood, which increases the odds we will be in the mood to knock boots.
I don’t enjoy cuddling ALL night. We like to drift off to sleep with my arms around my wife, but at some point I roll away and we sleep within our own space. We sleep fairly stripped down so when we cuddle our skin is in contact with each other. You do that too long and your skin starts sticking to each other through sweat. My wife also doesn’t like me snoring right into her ear for some reason.

Houses and bedrooms also got bigger which may be another explanation
Oh yeah, sometimes Karen talks to herself, or she has a conversation with me.
Those are HILARIOUS.
Yep, I've got zoned air and keep the bedroom frigid - even in August!Same here - making it colder and use a blanket. I also like some sound in the background - but not music - and some air movement such as a ceiling fan on low. Not for any cost savings, put in the smallest size 5000 btu window air conditioner to run on low fan to make the bedroom colder than the rest of the house and for the soft hum of the little a/c. My favorite sound to sleep to is rain for some reason.
Actually full and double are the same bedding. At least as far as the industry goes. Unless you are using full as in occupancy...Full sized beds are not the same as twins or double beds, big are distinct sizes and different sizes. Just saying.....
Bed were indeed bigger in the past because as a general rule there was only the one bed and the whole family slept in it.The sexual revolution has ZERO to do with this at all, really.
Seriously, people have had BIG BEDS forever.
My first wife inherited a humungous bed from the Pennsylvania farmhouse she grew up in.
It was LARGER than a California King, MUCH larger.
The mattress was custom handmade, sheets, same thing. Everything about it was one off.
Her grandfather just wanted the biggest bed he could drag into the bedroom.
It was like having your own miniature country to sleep on top of.

But rain? Oddly enough, that was W.C. Fields favorite sound for sleeping. He was a severe alcoholic, and suffered from all the anxiety and insomnia that comes with that. So he claimed he needed the sound of rain to sleep.
In his last days, inside a sanitarium, it is claimed he rigged-up a garden hose to spray on his room's roof!
Did you say, "cigar"?"Small dogs and children, hate them both with equanimity." Just rolled off his tongue.I can smell his cigar.

If you get crumbs in it won't you get ants?
Not if you live in the desert! We don't get ants. We just get..... scorpions. :|
There are no ants in the desert? Will scorpions here too they don't bother me they're normally quite skittish and stay the hell away from people.
We have ants but they don't seem to be in the city. And man, scorpions here can be mean suckers. We have ones called Arizona Bark Scorpions. Just a warning for anyone, the pic there of the scorpion with babies is freaky as ****. Some people have arachnophobia. I have.... Scorpionaphobia These ****ers are creepy as hell!
Why the hell I ever moved to the desert is still a mystery. Then again, the dry heat is way better than where I grew up in MI. Humidity is a killer. Sorry, didn't mean to derail the thread.
Pretty much everything has gotten bigger since the 1960s.
