Heroin Epidemic Relief Organizarion

40,000 people died of Heroin overdose in 2010 alone, more than auto accidents.

I became certified in administering NARCON (Naloxone) today with training but know as a chemist there is much to learn.

HERO was formed by Brian Kirk and John Roberts, two fathers who lost their teenage sons to a heroin overdose during 2009 here in IL.
John is a 40-year ex-cop from Chicago who also taught for 16 years.

(Two pictures of my former students were but dozens on display)
(Several families had their own T-shirts made up for their son/daughter in our walk and rally)

I will add much more to ths thread, but am off to a family get together,
proudly wearing my purple ribbon and the button of my former student with his son .

Well done NIMBY. Good for you. Proud of you.

Thank you Beaudreax--so much to share--so much to stll learn--so much hurt for families involved--but they're redirecting in memory of their sons and daughters--opiate/heroin overdose--Stimulation--can they be awakened--rub knuckles under lips and on sternum as step one of S C R E A M --Call for help if the person is not responsive as step two of six --

That is all good and well, wanting to help save lives, but what would be more effective to subdue the practice of selling dangerous and addictive narcotics such as heroin, coke and meth.

Proper first steps would be to place something close to an iron curtain along the Mexican border.

From there, outlaw membership in violent street gangs that sell narcotics and hammer any violation with the hundreds of criminal and RICO laws on the books.

An absolute neccessity would be to properly punish such felons that deal drugs with laws that focus on hard labor and the death penalty.

Users themselves can ultimately blame no one but themselves for doing such idiotic things as heroin. To discourage abuse, manditory drug testing for anyone getting federal or state welfare benefits is advised.

The proliferation of Oxycodone, especially from states like Florida and its unscrupulous doctors, has led to the explosion of Heroin.
When Oxy scripts run out, those addicted to the paharmaceutical industry turn to the streets.
And the Chicago gangs have divided up downstate Illinois .

Perhaps if you are so sickened by so many drug addicts ODing, then why does your good state allow violent street gangs to run these operations?

Why does the city of Chicago allow a huge belt of gang-infested territory to thrive and be the major cause of up to 512 murders a year there?

If there is anyone dealing drugs, trying to set up a violent gang or operating a meth lab in our county, the police and criminal justice system will aggressively hunt them down and prosecute them.

But I think in Illinois, the narcotics trade is such an important industry and that members of the state and national Democrat party have so many of their core supports involved in dealing and using narcotics (like Obama)---than only a token effort is ever taken against them.

What a great effort you have to carry on against it.
