After a very long wait (for me) we finally have some details about Battlefield 6, which is called Battlefield 2042. That should be a good setting, they can use some more developed versions of the future tech from BF4 (like hovertanks, accipiter, and railgun), as well as maybe less refined versions of tech from BF2142, like the titan or battlewalker. I've been waiting for the next modern time BF game since BF4, so I'm really hoping this one will be good. Hardline, 1 and 5 were all a disappointment to me.

Here's the BF6 trailer:

Loved the game since the original BF1942. The best was the Desert Combat mod, but I liked BF1 and BF V. Worst was probably BF Vietnam.
Not so into the futuristic ones, but I’m sure it will be good.

When’s it coming??

Not sure about the release date. Usually late October. Hopefully 2021. Gameplay trailer is Sunday.

1942 was great. Got it when the demo came out. Played DC at lots of lans, pretty much until BC2 came out, then BF3, and I still play BF4. I mostly ignored 1 and hardline and 5.

I'm a bit worried they won't have the class system, but instead individual operators with unique skills and gadgets.

Well it will probably be better than BF 3 to 4 which just seemed like they were following the annoying COD trend. I wouldnt ever recommend playing BF on console though since your slots to get into aircraft and vehicles will be more limited.

It's delayed :(

I liked 3 and 4, and I played them both on PS3 then 4 and 5 on PC and PS4. The console experience isn't much different, except when they were limited to conquest small.

I liked 3 but when i got 4 i was like……….. kay?….. not much but a new coat of painting and different single player. I loved battlefield 1 though.

I remember deriding it at the time as BF 3.5, but going back to BF3 after so many years of 4 makes the differences more apparent. The attachment system in BF3 sucks. Also, BF4 started off almost unplayable, on PS3 bringing down the tower in Locker was guaranteed to crash the server for months after launch. Nothing in 4 gave me the same feeling as rush on Damavand though.

BF 2042 vs BF4

Been watching a lot of the beta gameplay videos coming out, and it looks great.

I just finished playing the open beta... and I am a bit concerned. For reference I was an avid player of Battlefield 3, 4, and 5 plus and will freely admit I did not think much of Battlefield 1. And all of my gaming for FPS game is on PC.

I guess we'll start with the positives. The mechanics of Battlefield 2042 are nice improvement, as is the graphics, so various movements, aim, and fire all have a more deliberate feeling. The player has different impacts based on weather conditions. Weapon configurations (optics, barrels, etc.) can be accomplished on the fly suggesting the final product unlocks different weapons but all the options come with the weapon once unlocked. Another nice addition they started with 5 is the addition of live time player counts taking an objective. You know if it is 3v2 or 5v1 taking a position with a sort of strength indicator pulling the position towards one team, or the other, or at a temporary stalemate.

The negatives are all most too numerous to list. There is a serious graphics flaw being reported from PC to console where there are numerous pixel bleeding losses especially when in vehicles or aircraft. Another serious flaw is dynamic explosions will happen twice, and on the one map in beta there is hardly any structure damages (where as on 3 and 4 just about everything could be leveled.) There is an every so often map load issue where on spawn you are below the entire map in some void, the issue is "respawn" puts you right back there. You have to leave the game and find another to resolve the matter. Occasional lag spikes but not as bad as other betas of previous games.

Not sure if this is a positive or negative but going form 64 to 128 players on a map puts more emphasis on the teams than any individual movement. They say there are going to be more "specialists" with various traits but the 4 in beta pretty much kept the dynamic between the specialists mild at best.

I hope they make several improvements between now and November, and the list of bugs to fix is already numerous.

Well it will probably not be good and full of bugs when it’s out like they all were so I would give it a year or so before it’s playable.

My excitement for this title has evaporated. Not even the current sales could entice me. Maybe in a year or two I'll get it on sale for $20 when there's more content and it isn't a buggy mess. In the meantime, been playing some games from my back catalogue: Ghost Recon Wildlands, Dragon Age Inquisition, Rebel Galaxy, and a second playthrough of Tyranny.
