So, my "friend", needs a bank that will let her deposit Canadian funds into an American bank, and vice-versa, with a low or non-existent foreign currency deposit fee.

I called up HSBC, and they said they will charge $30 per deposit of Canadian dollars.

any banks charge less?

thats kinda steep, most banks just charge a conversion rate or a small fee.
