Greetings, humbolt. :2wave:
If I recall correctly, during the riots in the 60s, many people were killed before it ended. During the riots in the 90s that followed the Rodney King beating, Chinese merchants protected their businesses by sitting on their roofs with shotguns to prevent looting and destruction. Does history have to repeat itself before a halt is put to this? Since it has now been termed a "State of Emergency" in Baltimore, can the National Guard be called in?

On Saturday, as protests continued to turn ugly, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake confirmed that the protesters were being given “space” to “destroy.”
“I worked with the police and instructed them to do everything that they could to make sure that the protesters were able to exercise their right to free speech,” the mayor said. "It’s a very delicate balancing act because while we tried to make sure that they were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well.”
Yeah, but where are they now? What? Did they just light the fuse and then leave before the fireworks? These race ho's need to be called on to lend a hand at something besides incitement. And while I'm at it, the cops need to tell us what happened to that guy. His spine didn't break all by itself. None of what's happening excuses the thugs, who largely deserve to be shot. However, the somewhat passive police response might indicate that they aren't without blame here. They should've been more forthcoming on the injury to this guy in my view - assuming that they know how something that serious could've happened.
Jessey Jackson said in Baltimore:
"Rawlings-Blake needs statewide support to lift families out of poverty through jobs, education, mental health clinics and better housing, Jackson said. He said he hoped the protests would help lead to such change."

Could it just be possible that a liberal is now suggesting to bring people out of poverty they need jobs. Who would have thought. I mean with a job they can afford better housing and healthcare. Is this a revelation, that maybe, just maybe jobs and not handouts do more for people including the poor. Face it under Obama there are more blacks unemployed than ever before. The liberal solution is more handouts, this is the first cry from a liberal for jobs.
Now is there anyone who truly believes Hillary can end racial violence?
No, but I also don't think Jeb Bush can. If that's the sole metric for the next Pres, ain't a candidate out there.
The Guard is being called in. I remember the 60's riots well. I flew into DC during them, and saw the sky glowing with the fires. I also had a friend who's father was a surgeon in an emergency room in Detroit. Lots and lots of people were shot. Hundreds. This won't reach that level, but it's pretty bad. I'm somewhat familiar with Baltimore - spent some time now and then in the Inner Harbor and immediate downtown area back when I was sailing all the time. Nice area there, but the rest of the city isn't too pleasant - lots of blacks with an intolerant attitude of any not like them. You can see that now.
What the ****?
Jeb is not a candidate, Hillary IS.
It's always Bush with the lemmings. Point out one of hillary's incredibly long list of defects and wham! We have to hear about a Bush who isn't yet in the race.
Man, that is so ****ing paranoid

not sure how "credible" credible means, but they should be on high alert as a matter of principle of the situation, not some dubious threat of "gang partnership".

That's what my friend in Baltimore told me today. She said they're scared....
That would be frightening, flying into a city in riot.
As a reporter I have been inside one, and covered others. When you're on the job the adrenalin is rushing there is no fear, no contemplation of what might happen, just survive and get the story.
As a private citizen in 2010 I listened all through the night, sirens wailing and wailing, the glow of fires could be seen from my rooftop, the radio reports said one thing and the sky said another.
I have been in a tornado too, one touched down near me in Sarnia, Ontario.
I would rather be in a tornado...
The were probably fleeing other police officers but got shot in the back.Several officers are hurt right now -- one is unresponsive.
I think this is a great opportunity for local community organizers in Baltimore to register people to vote. Clearly, if only more democrats were elected to state and local offices in Baltimore we wouldn't be seeing the liberal base rioting. The white republicans that have been running Baltimore and the state of Maryland for generations are responsible for the inequality and racism that has caused the city to erupt...
