A year of home detention, three years probation, and anger management. For tackling an 84 year old, knocking down a 73 year old, punching him in the face, then kicking him in the face.

The full video's in the Yahoo link.

I am going to call bullshit on those elderly guys just "praying for expectant mothers and offering life-affirming alternatives to abortion" BUT even if those guys were being like the assholes who used to stalk my old PP clinic, it's zero excuse to get physical and I would expect jail time for such a vicious assault.

Can you demonstrate for us that this sentence is outside the norm for similar crimes in that jurisdiction?
Prosecutor asked for 10 years. But Baltimore is a Democrat run shithole and certain classes of people are “protected” their due to “racial injustice”.

That doesn't answer the question asked.

Is this sentence demonstrably outside the norm for that jurisdiction?

Your attempt at playing the race card falls pretty flat seeing that Patrick Brice looks like a white dude.

Just because you're in your 70's, you don't get some free pass to say and do anything you want.
Correct. We save the free passes for young leftists who physically assault them.

So, why did liberal posters above excuse his behavior because a “racial slur”? Was it two elderly black folks calling him a “cracker”?

It doesn't. I've had some pro-lifers be downright jerks harassing me at PP and I never once had to resort to violence.
You are at least being reasonable. But I am seeing a lot of posts here saying that these folks deserved being beaten.

Look at the images and tell me that Price wasn’t trying to inflict serious injuries.

Circuit Judge Yvette M. Bryant acquitted Brice of first-degree assault, ruling that prosecutors failed to provide evidence that he intended to inflict serious injuries, The Baltimore Banner reported. The jury at the time struggled to reach a unanimous verdict on an additional first-degree assault charge involving Crosby, with prosecutors attempting to move forward with a retrial, the outlet reported.

Following the attack, Crosby was treated for a fractured bone in his face, blindness in one eye, head and neck pain, two fractured fingers, and burns on both his arms and legs, according to The Daily Wire.

Who are you referring to?

Regardless, you'd have to ask them about why they said what they said.

Where did I say anything about how serious the assault was or wasn't?

When you get tired of your straw manning, you can go ahead and answer the question I actually asked.

No, pretty sure Trump used quite a few passes for rightwingers when he took the White House. I'm sorry if I don't get too worked up about a couple of old guys getting whipped for using a racial slur. This Trump's America right? Where if it's "your side" then you ignore bad behavior?

Brice was convicted of two cases of second degree assault and two cases of reckless endangerment. In the state of MD, second-degree assault charges carries up to 10 years in prison.

The judge sentenced him to one year on home detention — plus three years’ probation.

He beat two men over twice his age into unconsciousness.

Do you think the judges’s sentence was fair?

Here is some data on sentencing for second degree assault in MD.

45% serve a year or less. Only 9% receive probation (however that is 80% for first offenders). Of course, this was multiple charges and elderly victims. Brice should be doing a year in prison, not home confinement.

Thanks for addressing the question.

Is Brice a first time offender?

It's a good question, but only part of the issue. There's consistency in sentencing, and the question whether it's the right sentence, even if it's consistent and wrong generally.

Thanks for addressing the question.

Is Brice a first time offender?
Yes. According to him, he “just snapped”. Of course, one could argue that his victims are a special class based on their age and fragility. I doubt he would have attacked two people his own age.

Thank you for the stats - based on this and the brutality of the attack I would have expected a year in jail. Judges usually elaborate on the sentence being handed out, it would be useful to see that. Neither of the articles in the OP actually mentioned a single word about the judge's rationale.

On the plus side, a year in jail would have made Brice a prohibited person under 18 USC 922(g) (even though second degree assault is a misdemeanor in MD).

Lol - you just assumed the attacker was a minority, didn't you?

There's a term for people who assume race is associated with violence, now what was that term...
