(Axios) Putin proposed summit with Trump: White House
--
The Breaking News sub-forum requires adding "original thought" to OP entries, and with this news I absolutely need no prompting!
I believe Putin is playing Trump like a violin! After wasted days as usual, Putin once again sent Steven Witkoff packing - emptyhanded.
Putin wants Ukraine, will continue to take Ukraine, and has only one goal in relationship to the United States - "Delay, delay, delay!".
And to that effect, Putin is pulling Trump in one-on-one, to isolate NATO & the EU (where the real lifting will need to be done in terms of negotiations).
And it looks like Trump is falling for it - hook, line, and sinker. We are watching the Kim nuclear talks all over again, heading to the same result. Trump was out-of-his-league then (as exhibited by the results). And he is even way more out-of-his-league, here.
I was going to advocate stocking-up on ketchup, but there's no hurry. If Trump even gets a one-on-one-meeting with Putin, he will return with a wide smile like after his hours' long phone calls with Putin, thinking he accomplished something, not even realizing how used he was - until it dawns on him (maybe) some time later!
We'll see if I'm right.

Trump told European leaders after the call that he plans to meet Putin next week, and he hopes to hold a trilateral summit with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky soon afterward
--A White House official said a meeting between Trump and Putin could take place as soon as next week, but that no location has been set.
