Automatic EMBED tags

At some point in the last few/several weeks, there was a change to what happens when you try to post the https address of a thread. Before it'd take up a little space, but now it displays a ton. When I look at the BB code, it appears the site is now throwing EMBED tags around the https link. If I delete them and hit "save", the site adds them right in.

Like so:



The only way around it seems to be putting quotations marks around the link, like so:

"https://debatepolitics.com/threads/...tions-about-what-more-can-be-done-cnn.574514/"

I haven't noticed that - do you have an example?

Thanks for the pro tip. No reason was ever given for the EMBED tags. All they do is discourage posters from linking threads. If I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd surmise that this change is/was targeted toward posters who used to link a lot of threads. :unsure:

Yeah, it's weird. If I want to link a thread, I don't want to display the first post, especially if it contains graphics of any sort. Guess I'll be putting the links in quotes for now.
