At least 30 people were injured after a car plowed through a crowd early Saturday in East Hollywood, Los Angeles, authorities said.

The incident took place outside the music venue The Vermont, near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Vermont Avenue in east Los Angeles, at around 2:00 a.m. local time.

At least one person was still in critical condition with several others in serious condition as of Saturday afternoon, the LAPD said. In total, 24 patients were taken to the hospital.

The critically injured person was a woman in her 20's who sustained critical leg injuries, police said.

Police said the driver was shot by a male after the crash. The driver is currently in surgery and the shooter is at large.

Developing story. Man plows through crowd. Crowd beats him up. Man gets shot. Shooter flees. No fatalities, thank God.

Horrible. There's no reason the driver should ever again be allowed into society at large.

Such a tragic event. Another case where a car was the weapon to attempt mass murder and not a gun. We're seeing a lot more of weaponization by cars.

What a crazy event.

The driver was thrown out of the bar for causing problems, so he gets into his car and crashes into the crowd in front of the club. Car becomes disabled somehow, and the crowd drags him out of his car and start beating on him. Then some guy in the crowd just shoots him and runs away.

No deaths yet but 7 people are in critical condition.

Wow, that's terrible.

A gun was used as well. We'll know more when they catch the shooter.

Disabled car? He turned the car around and drove onto the sidewalk. Why are you excusing him? What's wrong with you?

What if he was really upset that crowds of people walking around mildly inconvenienced him?

What if the crowd was a bunch of lib protestors?
He drove away and turned around to kill people on the sidewalk. He meant to kill. His weapon was his car.

So what? Rittenhouse became republican famous for killing libs and getting away with it.

Is it obvious now that republicans should not be suggesting the use of cars as weapons yet?

They use that as an excuse all the time. Just more of their gun equivalency BS.

No, but ones involving gunplay typically are.

"Gunplay" seems to refer to someone exacting retribution for him assaulting a crowd with his vehicle. It might be what ironically saved his life- which should be spent behind bars from here until he leaves prison feet first.

What if you could come up with a stupider post that would collapse the space/time fabric of the universe?

It's almost unbelievable you could have thought any of that made sense when you wrote it.

Which part excused the driver? It's obvious he referred to the car being disabled in the course of the attack.

I hope all those injured make a speedy recovery, and that driver and shooter are punished for the injuries caused, and for recklessly endangering so many lives.

That said, Santa Monica Blvd and Vermont is NOT East Los Angeles. Perhaps the report meant to distinguish east Hollywood (part of LA) from the incorporated city of West Hollywood.

WE need to outlaw cars.

30 people injured- some critically- in a mass casualty attack, and only 25 posts in two days?

Must not be any political axes to grind.
