As a long time hunter, I have zero sympathy for this guy

Looks like the Buffalo got the trophy.

😄

He paid $10,000 for the privilege of being permanently smeared into the South African ground.

While I have hunted all my life, I have never gone on a trophy hunt. In fact, the vast majority of my deer kills have been donated to homeless shelters, with the minority for my own personal food consumption.

Hunting for personal consumption or charity is great.

But I have little regard for those who hunt purely for status.

p.s. It behooves a hunter to be aware of his situation. On more than one occasion I have had to break out the bear spray. You never know what might be lurking behind that thicket.

I did enjoy playing deer avenger as a kid. Looks like we got the buffalo avenger

Most forms of life on Earth have no choice but to kill other forms of life in order to survive. Even plants aren't safe. Hate the game, not the player.

But killing animals for no reason other than fun or some perceived social status isn't something I can relate to. To me it seems a little bit psychopathic. I don't even kill spiders if I can help it, I catch them and toss them outside lol.

So no sympathy from me either. He picked a fight to the death and that's exactly what he got. Thoughts and prayers for his family though.

My understanding is that the meat from those hunts is donated to the locals.

But your position is that paying 10 bucks for a deer tag and donating the kill to locals is superior to paying $10,000 to the same effect?

What do you think happens to the meat when there is a kill on a "trophy" hunt in Africa?

Does the buffalo get to mount him in the cave as a trophy?

You know, like humans do with animals they hunt/kill.
