That's an interesting fact, but I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make. Care to elaborate?

His official title was "President of the United States in Congress Assembled."

Who was the first President of the United States under the U. S. Constitution?

Hint: There was a temporary President from the time the Constitution was ratified until Washington took office in April 30 of 1788.

Cough it up. I think the temporary president was just the last president under the articles of confederation, but I'm dying to know what your answer is.

WHIP THERE U GO MY GOOD FRIEND,SORRY I HAVE TAKEN SO LONG.

.St. Clair was a member of the Pennsylvania Council of Censors in 1783, and was elected a delegate to the Confederation Congress, serving from November 2, 1785, until November 28, 1787. Chaos ruled the day in early 1787 with Shays' Rebellion in full force and the states refusing to settle land disputes or contribute to the now six year-old federal government. On February 2, 1787, the delegates finally gathered into a quorum and elected St. Clair as 9th President of the United States in Congress Assembled. St. Clair's tenure as President (February 2, 1787 – October 29, 1787) was during an effective period, as Congress enacted both the Northwest Ordinance and the current United States Constitution.HE DIED IN GREENSBURG Pennsylvania.

MIKEEY.ALL THE BEST WHIP.

Whip merry xmas

Thanks.

As I suspected, the last President under the AoC. Nice historical trivia. 'Preciate it.

The proper title was President of the United States in Congress Assembled since the office was only that of President of the Confederation Congress.

Actually James Wilson was more important.

My mother’s maiden name is McIntyre. But Hadrian didn’t build the world a big enough wall.

If this person was not elected in accordance with Article II of the Constitution, i.e., by the electoral college, then he was not President of the U.S. under the Constitution, now was he.

But he was President...of the United States under the Constitution. Parse it out. You're 100% right, but he's more fun.

Many members of the Confederation Congress served as delegates to the Constitutional Convention, and I believe that the Convention met at the request of Congress (or was it merely at the request of the Annapolis Convention?) But the Confederation Congress did not draft or ratify the Constitution; it cannot be counted as an achievement of the Confederation Congress.

This depends on when you say the Constitution took effect- was it when it was ratified by the requisite 9 states? Was it when the first Congress and/or first President were elected? Was it when the first Congress convened? Or was it when the first President was inaugurated?

But at any rate the last President of the U.S. in Congress Assembled did not have the executive authority that the President of the U.S. has under the Constitution.

He wasn't that great of General he lost Tico and never held a field Command after that and was the Commanding General in Charge of the worst US Military defeat by Native American tribes.

Oh and he was never the President of The United States of America that honor fell to George Washington.
