'Art of the Deal' co-author says Trump is losing his mind

The man who co-wrote “The Art of the Deal” said Sunday he believes President Trump's faculties are diminishing — and that he feels obligated to sound the alarm. “We are in a true emergency,” Tony Schwartz said on CNN Sunday. “And the accelerated rate at which his breakdown or decompensation is occurring is cause for us, and certainly for me, to come on to TV more often, to tweet more often.”

"Co wrote" is, of course, as way of saying that Schwartz actually wrote the book, as Trump is incapable of that level of writing.

Should we be alarmed that someone close to the same president who has alienated our allies, cozied up to Russia, and blames the US for not having a better relationship with that dictatorship thinks the president is losing his faculties?

It may be the case that everyone who losing to Trump are the one losing their minds. Anyone who understands the power of persuasion can see that.

We should certainly be alarmed by the prognosis(es?) and predictions of a please-someone-I-need-to-write-a-new-book-because-I've-run-out-of-money guy.
Lucky for us normal people, we don't give a *** what that guy has to say.

"In August 2017, Schwartz predicted Trump would resign, saying "Trump's presidency is effectively over. Would be amazed if he survives till end of the year. More likely resigns by fall, if not sooner." ..."

Is that better or worse than the I've-run-out-of-money-so-I've-got-to-run-for-President guy?

I'm not sure Trump has ever really had faculties so...

First of all, is Mr. Schwartz a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist? In other words, in what way is he qualified to determine a person's lack of capacity beyond mere personal opinion that any other layman could give? Second, whether he is qualified to render such a medical opinion or not, has Mr. Schwartz recently sat down with Mr. Trump for any length of time necessary to render a reliable diagnosis (or more intimate observation)? The Art of the Deal was published in 1987, a full thirty one years ago. What time has Mr. Schwartz spent with Mr. Trump within the last year or so?

So should we be alarmed by Mr. Schwartz's statements? Unless and until the above questions are answered clearly, no I do not think so.

It's also disturbing that Trumps government physicians blatantly lie about such simple things as Trumps height and weight.

Or that he dictated his medical report that was released to the press...

One does NOT need to be a certified medical doctor specializing in the expelling of human waste to know a pile of crap when you see it.

It's obvious as hell. Anyone who ever sat at a table with Uncle Charlie who was not quite right anymore can spot it in Trumpy.

Lack of impulse control
Rambling, nonsensical disjointed and fragmented statements
Seems to repeat himself a lot
Contradicts earlier statements

Schwartz is not saying that Donald Trump is full of crap, or a wicked person. Dittohead not! was asking whether we should be concerned about Schwartz's claim that Donald Trump is losing his mind. And in my mind I see no reason why I should be any more concerned about Schwartz's opinion than I am about, say, Joe Scarborough's, or Joy Behar's, or any other talking head who has not spent time with Donald Trump for years but who is more than happy to offer their unqualified opinion regarding his mental health.

Unless of course I am wrong, and Schwartz is licensed medical professional who can properly diagnose one's mental health, or by dint of his breadth of experience he can determine lack of capacity and has recently spent time with Donald Trump in order to determine that he is not all there and is quickly losing his grip on reality.

Can one be in the process of losing ones mind if they have already lost it as is the case with Trump?

I do not see how he has lost his mind other than in the colloquial sense of believing in improper or immoral things that his political adversaries disagree with, like the "crazy liberals," the "kooky socialists," the "nutty conservatives," etc. Being an impolitic narcissistic a**hole with a mercurial personality is not the same as being insane or dementia-ridden.

But again, if someone wishes to proffer evidence beyond him simply being a nasty, dishonest jerk, I am all ears.

All you need to do is read the book THE DANGEROUS CASE OF DONALD TRUMP. Its all there for you.

Schwartz told CNN’s Brian Stelter that he felt comfortable making that assessment because he had “spent an enormous time with [Trump] over a period of 18 months.”

He also said he was a 25-year student of psychology

You don't have to be a licensed psychologist to see when someone is beginning to lose it. You just have to spend time with them and get to know them.

True. And I have no doubt that Mr. Schwartz spent a great deal of time with Trump over a year and a half to get to know him and write the Art of the Deal for him. I would want to know how recently he spent that year and a half with him. Because, again, the art of the deal was published 31 years ago. When was Schwartz's most recent contact with Trump?

That was a while back, I have to admit. His assessment may just be watching him, as we all do, but also comparing him to the man he knew all those years ago.

Conditioning by "the power of persuasion" is how trump got elected.

He won by simply peppering his incoherent speeches with words aand phrases conservatives have been conditioned, by the science of persuasion, to rage at.

Lose your train of thought mid-speech?

"BUILD THE WALL!!!"

Problem solved!

Actually, I sat in on the recent debate on the issue by the APA, as the AV technician.

From the debate, I thought they were going to vote that it was OK to do it.

They do it for criminals and historic figures already.

And there is such a wealth of video of trump over the years it isn't unreasonable.

Being able to tell if another human is crazy is pro survival, so I'm sure we have instincts for it.

Exactly. And after yesterday, I suspect the number or armchair mental health analysts has grown by leaps and bounds.

Or they are watching the old MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE.

If that is the case, why didn't Romney win in 2012? Why didn't Bernie become the nominee? Both had equally the same number of incoherent ramblings and scandals surrounding them.

Trump is much better at manipulating the media, by getting the media to influence votes toward his candidacy (for free).

You're giving him way to much credit. Trump wants to have his core message repeated as often as possible until it sticks in your memory and all other messages are drowned out.

After all, what gets repeated gets remembers and what gets remembered gets done. This isn't unique to Donald Trump; companies pay larges sums for their brands all the time.

What is this? the 100th TDS post today?

Man , he owns you people!

LOL

Natural charisma.

Full stop.

Trump has two things, cunning and charisma.

Combine that with an obvious lack of morals and you will succeed in America.

That's how the system is set up.

Further, he's a consumer of conservative media, a birther himself.

So he is just repeating what he heard there.
