Arizona finds that 100,000 Republicans illegally registered

These voter roll problems so often bring driver's license issuance into the picture. If you want to get a full picture of the huge and growing problem we have with non-citizens being registered to vote, start with a search of motor voter.

"An audit last year of the state transportation department found extensive problems with the state’s oversight of third-party vendors, according to the state auditor general report. Problems included the issuance of driver’s licenses and identification cards to “unqualified or unauthorized” people — and a lack of “documentation confirming individuals/entities were qualified and/or authorized” to receive car titles or driver’s licenses and identification cards."

But why don't those people still have their records to bring in to their Town Clerk and re-register? It's important enough that I would do it. Maybe the Republicans are afraid they won't go to the trouble and the Repubs will lose those votes.

I do find it interesting that the issue may be impacting more Republican voters than Democrat or Independent voters. What I also find interesting is the Republicans have written the election laws for Arizona. They have the majority on most of the County Board of Supervisors and County recorder positions. If there are problems in the voter registration it is a problem of the GOP's own making.

That is why I laugh when I hear MAGA supporters talk about rigged election, election fraud, in Arizona. If the system is that messed up, why would someone want for GOP people elected in to fix the issue? I took Kari Lake's advice and left the GOP because I was a McCain Republican. I got out.

I have no idea what the solution is to this mess but it's now over 200,000 people. Arizona could end up with months of very legitimate election challenges.

After going to all the trouble to get all the documents you need to prove identity and residence, I would think everyone has saved them, so I can't imagine a lot of challenges--but everyone needs to check now to make sure they're on the rolls. If not, there's plenty of time to correct it.
 
Maybe it's mostly Republicans because Arizona is mostly Republicans? I thought, anyway.

Arizona has been roughly 50/50 for a long time. The metro areas, Pima County (Tucson area), is heavily democrat in the metro area and heavily Republican in the outskirts. Maricopa County (Phoenix) has steadily become more Democratic and around 1/3 of the electorate statewide is Independent. The independents fall into two major categories. A chunk of them are Republicans that got sick and tired of the AZGOP's incompetence and reliance on the funding streams McCain established. The other major chunk are diehard liberals that have registered as independent so that they can mess with GOP primaries.

This problem originated with the previous Republican regime and involves the improper deletion of the citizens documents by Republicans. Most are Republicans! The matter is before the courts.

Not even close to what I was talking about.

There shouldn't be voter registration as we know it because the government ALREADY knows who the citizens are and those eligible to vote. Voter registration (eligibility) and Voter ID (identification when voting) are two different things.

No where was there any implication about non-citizen's voting (figured I'd clarify that now) or about people voting multiple times (which is your claim).

You are right but since when do Governors control the election process in AZ? I do believe that elections are run by the Secretary of State and the legislators. The Secretary of State was Jan Brewer, a Republican, who went on the become Governor and who had a Republican Secty of State. Republicans have been in charge of elections until 2020.

Well, it's not strictly Republicans, AND there's no reason to think that any of the 98,000 is NOT an eligible voter, so your claim of "proof" is nonsense.

If I had to blame anyone it would be McCain. The AZGOP has been a cluster**** for a couple of decades. They ran away from Goldwater once he retired and McCain was seen as the "new" Republican, running a MUCH more moderate agenda, kind of the "anti-Goldwater but still a Republican" thing. The AZGOP hasn't changed from there in quite a while and, in general, have been "Democrat lite" ever since.

I don't think anyone should be kicked from voter roles and everyone should be allowed to vote as long as they're citizens over the voting age.
I don't care who they vote for, just that they are allowed to vote.
 
It was a VERY tongue in cheek comment.

While there does seem to have been an issue with a number of registered voters getting "grandfathered in", something not allowed by the law change in 2005, it is very much unlikely to be a significant issue and SHOULD be easy enough to resolve. Sadly, out state government being what it is, the powers that be have chosen to make it an issue rather than just reach out to those effected and resolve the matter.

Thousands are deleted from the voter rolls. But the GOP answer it to just let them vote as they have been voting for years to make it easier. No need to make folks prove who they are and that they are legal to vote…

Yet when they demanded that voters in blue districts be required to prove citizenship and folks talked about difficulties in doing so they dismissed it…

And now that the shoe is on the other foot, they suddenly want a pass?

**** that noise. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. They want to impose rules on the rest of us, cool, but they also have to follow the same rules as well.

They have to proventheir eligibility just like they try to make it happen everywhere else.

I just want the vote to be on the level.
If the Dems lose then so be it, that's how this is supposed to work.
