Are you happy with the economy

Rather than peak and then downturn, I'd prefer steady, consistent growth.
So you prefer a much more controlled economic growth through government intervention.

They are intertwined. Yesterday I went by the butter aisle. The cheap store brand butter was $6.50. I walked past the butter without buying it because of the price. Today the stock market was doing well after a down day yesterday. then late in the afternoon the Fed announce a raise in the interest rate to 5%, causing the market to tank. I used to go out to eat once or twice a week. I have not eaten at a restaurant for 9 months. I am sure this is so for many people. Inflation destroys businesses and the attempt to stem inflation by raising interest rates also destroys businesses.

So the answer to the OP is: I hate the economy right now.
I told you to raise taxes to kill inflation, but Noooo we have to have low taxes for our pride

All of these 'shortages' and yet companies are making record profits, it makes no sense.
It makes perfect sense. Corporations don't give a shite about anything but profit.

I am quite interested by it, but not happy.

I believe our current system is becoming unstable on a level never seen in my lifetime. It has only been a little more than a 50 year experiment in which we divorced money from actual physical value, and began to trade entirely in debt rather than wealth. This enabled the US (and the West) to take hold of the economic lingua franca for a generation. And by that means siphoning off the wealth of the entire globe, especially the poorer countries some of whom even use the US dollar.

Food for thought: We American citizens stole value from all the citizens in developing countries and put in in our own bank accounts by cashing the "stimulus checks" printed by the Fed. We all gained $1200 (or whatever it was) while the citizens of El Salvador for example got no checks but were instead left with the same inflation that printing caused, thereby moving value from them to us.

Theft, modern slavery, and greed.

And every time we print more we steal primarily from the poor and middle class again and again, quietly, and in a way that many of them cannot see or understand easily.

I think "the economy" is controlled by fools and evil men.

Its a subjective question.

I would say it could be better. Criticasters will always find something to harangue…

The insane spending for the past 2 years has put us in this position. If you want to put the last nail in the coffin, then raise taxes.

I'd prefer a prefer steady, consistent growth with minimal government intervention.
