Even Zelensky has pretty much come to that conclusion. He now wants peace with guaranteed security, with the hope of eventually regaining territory diplomatically.

Good idea, that would require an observable and transparent international organization to monitor a referendum in the eastern oblasts. The results would be potentially useful in a fair and equitable negotiation for a peace that lasts.

Is there anyone who would oppose a transparent democratic vote to answer the question of borders so that self determination is at least possible?

I personally think the only way this will end soon is for an agreement that the land belongs to who currently occupies it. I believe the longer that Ukraine fights, the more land they will lose.

My impression of the "offer" is that Russia wants considerably more than just the land they presently occupy.

They want additional land, and additional conditions upon Ukraine.

Get Russia to offer that deal, and maybe Ukraine will consider it.

I don't know. I know in the past, Russia made an offer regarding only the providences that declared to secede. With all the resources that Russia has used now, maybe they will demand more.

I know I am embarrassed by how Trump just gave into everything that Putin wanted instead of sticking up for Ukraine and the USA. He gave the dictator of Russia, who invaded another country, everything that he wanted and put on a show for Putin including waiting at the bottom of the ramp of the dictator's plane like a child. The only word for the way Trump handled the whole thing was embarrassing. It seems that the universal truth is that with Trump, flattery will get you what you want. Trump promised our country, when going to Alaska, that if Putin did not agree to a cease fire, then Trump would bring problems to Russia, including further sanctions and even more help for Ukraine. Of course, like the fool and liar he is, none of that will happen as Putin did as he always does with Trump, out negotiated the great negotiator, seeming with ease. Trump has embarrassed us before the entire world and try and tell me he did not do so.

I'm embarrassed by everything Trump does. His existence is a national disgrace, only exceeded by everything he does.

I am actually proud of Trump; he did a good job by not bending a knee to give Putin a blow job right then and there.
