What a pile of absurd bile; come back when you want to be serious and act like an adult.
He dodged your question and then called me a troll when I pointed it out. What else is new?I'm waiting for you to do it, but I suppose that's too much to ask.

Really? Who elected us then? When was this amazing world-wide election held? What were the results? Because I don't know what happened in your reality, but in the one most people live in, that's not how it happened.
If you think Cephus was attempting to make a coherent argument, there's a bridge in Arizona I would like to sell you.
The U.S. has been and continues to be a global leader in culture.
Ok. The rest of the world thinks we suck, we're arrogant and pushy, etc.
Fine.
Here's the plan:
All the troops are coming home. Every single one. All overseas military bases will be closed. This starts tomorrow. No more foreign wars, no more hated US military in your country, we're out of the world-policeman biz.
Oh, I'm sorry...you haven't had to provide your own security for decades because of the US, now you don't have a military worth mentioning and you're worried? Deal with it; pay for your own defense. Your local economy depends on that US air base? Too bad. Got an oppressive dictator who is threatening his neighbors, and you'd like him to be gone if you had the military might and the nerve? Sorry, we don't do that anymore, deal with it yourself. We're tired of being accused of meddling.
All foreign aid ends tomorrow. Not another penny, not for anyone. We'll gladly trade with you as long as the terms are equitable, but we are not throwing our own money out there for charity anymore. We have to put our own house in order first... and besides, you might think our aid was condecending.
Next hurricane, tsunami, earthquake? Don't expect to see a US Carrier group come to your aid. No US helicopters dropping water, food, medical supplies, tents. No billions in US emergency aid. You're on your own, we don't meddle anymore.
The next Hitler that rises to power (and there will be one, if we're not around to smack him down before he gets going), the world can deal with him without us. We'll sit WW3 out, thanks. After all, if we rode to the rescue you might think we were arrogant.
Wonder how that would go over?
Like a lead zeppelin methinks...
G.
You have got to be joking right? Culture, what culture? McDonald's on every corner:rofl
Seriously, whilst on my Hols in Florida last year i did not meet an arrogant American. Just polite, considerate and curtius
I think the arrogance comes from a political elite extremely detracted from everyday life, living in there insular bubble oblivious to the complexities of being the world leader.
Paul
I'm not so sure we the people are arrogant as much as our politicians seem to be. Our politicians portray arrogant behavior to the rest of the world and therefore the rest of the world think we the people must be arrogant as well.

I'm not going to wade through this whole thread. But here is my two cents. Yes, we are an arrogant nation as the typical mindset of our elected officials has historically been one of "America first regardless of the cost to others." Our foreign policy since the end of WW2 has really reflected this for the most part. We owe some apologies. We aren't the devil, not be any means. But we've done our share of manipulative **** and went out of our way remove self determination from the hands of some nations. South and Central America and the Middle East come to mind.
The premise of this thread addressing the Obama World Apology Tour is bull****. It's specifically designed to criticize Obama's efforts to counter years of failed foreign policy and restore our image internationally as a benevolent superpower. The thread author has even referred to it as a Bash America Tour. This couldn't be more wrong.
He is absolutely correct. The proof of that is displayed right here in this post. The phrase US World Apology tour says it right off. It shows me that Americans resent ever admitting that they did anything wrong. If they made a list it would wrap around the globe but the apology list as far as Americans are concerned would be blank.
We most certainly have been. I think Obama is trying to change that image of us, in a positive and productive way.
The ONLY image Obama will leave of the USA is the impending economic disaster of what was left of our economy and a feckless foreign policy that encourages the despots who hate us to plot more attacks.
But hey, let me apologize first and foremost for stepping on your profound denial by suggesting that Obama is nothing more than a naive inexperienced Community Organizer with absurd notions about how the REAL world works.
Please accept my apologies for he is, after all, THE ONE. That moron who fooled EVERYONE smarter than him into a War of Choice in Iraq made me do it. :2wave:

....ever since 2001...alienated practically everybody ('cept Britain), due to our arrogance and unilateralism.
Obama is making overtures (not appeasement) to Islamic countries, being tougher with policy as it applies to Israel (something long overdue), and using diplomacy instead of threats and insults. A welcome change from 8 years of failed foreign policy and quite frankly, a failed domestic policy. The worst presidency in American History, hands down.
Why do you suppose Obama has such high poll numbers and Republicans have such low poll numbers...are Americans, or more specifically, the American voters, all of a sudden, lunatics?
His presidency is not over, so you cannot say what will happen is true.
You cannot back up this false assertion with any facts. It is merely a "Liberal" perception which has been reinforced by a campaign of ignorance led by the New York Times against a President they never liked and thought stole the election from their man in 2000.
Really? Liberal perception, is it?? The fact that George Bush was more of a pawn than a strategist, is beside the point.
BBC NEWS | Middle East | Toxic world fallout from Iraq invasion
The Magazine of Future WarfareThe diplomatic fallout
As for America's standing around the world, the war alienated some major American allies, France and Germany most notably. Others did send troops after the invasion - Spain and Italy among them - but then left as public opinions at home turned hostile.
On the other hand, a number of smaller countries, many of them from the former Soviet block, saw an opportunity to show their loyalty to the US and sent contingents - the Czech Republic, Poland, Georgia and others. For them, a strong and active United States bodes well for their future security.
In turn, Britain's support for the United States has led to further divisions within Europe. These had an impact in the Lisbon treaty talks about a future foreign policy for the EU, strengthening the British determination to keep it firmly in the hands of individual governments.
The invasion of Iraq also caused alarm bells to ring in Russia. There, a new mood of hostility to the West has developed and the Russians have become wary of American power.
Nor has Iraq sparked the democratic revolution in the Middle East that Mr Bush hoped for. And the Israeli/Palestinian conflict remains unresolved.
Ironically it is Iran, with which the US shares a mutual hostility, that has emerged with greater strength, to the concern of the Gulf Arab states.
The fallout continues.
......Bremer also alienated Iraqis as he "privatized" Iraq's national industries, although "piratized" is a more accurate term. Iraqi industries were given away to American corporations, with American oil companies first in line. Bremer also awarded numerous "no bid" contracts to insider companies like Dick Cheney's Halliburton. The waste and corruption was so bad that the US Army Comptroller recently testified before Congress that it was the worst he had seen in his career. The plunder was so blatant that there is no accounting for billions of dollars in hundred dollar bills that were flown in by the planeload and disappeared.
The fact that it(the Iraq War) was unjustified, illegal according to international laws and treaties, opposed by the UN, opposed by most US allies, bad for the war on terror, and disastrous for the Iraqi people, American taxpayer, America's image, and devastating to hundreds of thousands of American soldiers and their families are minor concerns.
Last time I looked, Iran told Obama to pound sand.
Last time I looked, North Korea told Obama to pound sand.
Are you living in the same world I live in?
Please. Other than 'saber-rattling" at Iran and totally ignoring the threat that N.Korea represented, Bush was "out to lunch".....all talk and no action.

More than what Bush did.
Okay let me be sure I understand this; you think HIGH opinion polls are an indicator of leadership?
No, they are reflections of Americans view of leadership
Did you know that Congressional Democrats have lower polling numbers than Bush did? What does that tell you?
Tells me that the Democrats in Congress have yet to step up to the plate, in the fashion of Obama....but Congressional Republicans are viewed even more negatively. What does that tell you?
How high do you think those numbers will be this time next year? I can give you a guess; not much higher than Bush's and they may even go below Bush's numbers by the end of his first term.
Anything can happen....and likely, "will". Nothing is guaranteed. But I predict, that Obama will not be at his "wit's end", unlike Bush, and will respond to challenges, "presidentially".
But again, the thing I liked about Bush is that he was a leader and didn't make decision by sticking a finger into the wind and trying to figure out what was easy an popular.
Bush was the opposite of a leader, who inspired only those in the base of his own party. Everyone knows, or suspects that Cheney was the puller of Bush's strings, as he possesses the intellect of a rock.
Obama doesn't either, he just happens to be clueless of the disaster his policies are going to be.
