I figure we will be hearing from these guys with what is taking place with ISIL/ISIS and their new Caliph. Also I wanted to point out at the end of June. These guys went after an airport just like the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan did. Now ISIL trying to get to Mosul. The pattern cannot be missed. Over 5 different regions and now we have heightened Security due to a specific Bomb Maker from AQAP working and training members of al Nusra and ISIL. So to, do the Europeans.

Al-Qaida fighters attack airport in southern Yemen.....

Al-Qaeda militants attacked an airport in southern Yemen on Thursday and bombed its air traffic control tower, setting off clashes with Yemeni troops that left 11 people dead, security officials said.

The officials said the coordinated attack on the Sayoun airport in the southern province of Hadramawt saw militants approach from three different directions early on Thursday.

An airplane carrying passengers from the capital Sanaa, which was making a transit stop in Sayoun en route to Dubai, was caught in the crossfire. One of the passengers told The Associated Press over the phone that there was gunfire all around and soldiers on the runway.

The military deployed tanks and heavy weapons, and eventually forced the militants out, officials said.....snip~

Stop it. "Al Qaida is on the run" and "Al Qaida has been decimated" and the "world is less violent than it has ever been." See, there is nothing to worry about. And if something minor does pop up, Obama will be there to mislead the public about it and lead from behind.

Mornin Fletch. :2wave: You forget I knew about BO not getting it Right.....before he became Celebrity. Still this is his Invisible War that he has going on. Not many talk about it much. They just haven't figured out that part about having people on the ground to finish the Job appropriately. Which is why it keeps going and going, rolling along.

The Yemeni government launched a major offensive in the spring in an attempt to drive al-Qaida militants from their southern strongholds. The United States is financing most of the government operations and providing logistical support in addition to launching drone strikes against the insurgents.

The U.S. has long considered al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula to be the most dangerous branch of the global terror network. It has been linked to a number of failed attempts to attack the United States.....snip~

We need to repeal the 22nd Amendment so Obama can be reelected and given a third chance of keeping Al Qaeda on the run while decimating them.

Nah Apache.....all we need is for BO to keep on screwing up like he has been.....like here with AQAP. See here all BO does is drone them in Yemen. Yet now we are completely concerned about their New Bombs and their Bomb Maker, getting something thru Airport Security.

I was reading that over 400 UAV's (drones) have crashed during the war on terrorism.

After the Kings won the Stanley Cup in L.A. an UAV over the Staples Center was taken down by a hoodie, I **** you not.

But I digress.
Obama has abandoned the Middle East, he has thrown the war against Al Qaeda under the bus. Look at who his national security adviser is, Susan Rice. :lamo
Any one in the military or the CIA who put America before their careers have already been purged by Obama.

Maybe after females have been fully integrated into our combat ground forces Obama might get serious and return to the Middle East ? Until then we have to rely on DHS, and our secured borders. :2rofll:

Yeah and the funny thing is.....we keep droning them and attacking them here in Yemen. Allegedly driving them back. Yet they have taken back all their ground and then some. Now they even have made advances straight to the Saudi Border.

I am sure CIA and others are doing what they can. But we cannot defeat them just by droning them.

People keep telling me I'm making **** up, but nobody has shown me how aircraft even drones are capable of occupying and holding ground.

I'm old schooled and I still believe from lessons learned and personal experience that only a rifleman is able to take, occupy and hold ground.

That's why I am all for Private ventures if the Government will allow Bounty Hunters/Mercs to go after the Terrorists. They will know the Risks. But then All that needs be said.....is with the Poster and Photo. Wanted.....Dead or Alive!

is ISIL a branch or an affiliate or both? just kidding, it get it.

The Shia have gone after AQAP in Yemen.....while at the same time there are protests for South Yemen to secede. Going back to what it use to be. The Shia here are connected to Iran too.

Al-Qaida and Shiite rebels clash in south Yemen.....

Yemen's Shiite rebels pushing to seize more territory across the country were locked in fierce battles with al-Qaida militants on Wednesday in a province south of the capital, Sanaa, security officials said. The Shiite Houthis, who are suspected of being linked to predominantly Shiite Iran, on Tuesday captured Damar province, also south of Sanaa, and the key Red Sea port city of Hodeida west of the capital. Al-Qaida's Yemeni branch, described by Washington as the world's most active offshoot of the terror network, has vowed to fight the Houthis. It has claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing last week in Sanaa that killed at least 51 people, mostly Houthis on their way to attend an anti-government rally.

The Houthis overran Sanaa in September and are also in full control of the provinces of Saada and Omran north of the capital. Meanwhile, in the southern port city of Aden, thousands held a sit-in protest for a second day Wednesday at a major square to press demands for the south to secede. Once-independent Southern Yemen was united with the north in 1990. An attempt to break away from the union in 1994 was ruthlessly crushed by the army of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh. The protest is scheduled to end on Thursday.....snip~

ATTENTION Attention......you won't believe this, BO just got something done that was Right. Got Lucky and it is now confirmed. BO has killed an AQ Leader who threatened More Attacks on France from the Charlie Hebdo Incident. Not just any Leader either.....but one that was tasked with promoting Sharia Law, a Cleric and from the most dangerous branch of AQ!

Al-Qaeda said Thursday that Harith al-Nadhari, a senior figure who threatened more attacks on France after last month's Charlie Hebdo killings, had died in a US drone strike in Yemen. Nadhari and three other militants were killed in a January 31 "crusader American drone strike against their car" in the southern Shabwa province, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula said on Twitter.

AQAP named the others as Said Bafaraj, Abdelsamie al-Haddaa and Azzam al-Hadrami. Tribal sources had said at the time that four suspected militants were left charred in their car after a drone strike.....snip~

Cmon now.....we do have to give BO peep credit when he deserves it.

I looked pretty carefully at the locations along the border of Shabwa where the recent drone attacks (sorry, "crusader attacks") have been killing jihadist SOB's. I have a strong suspicion the news reports that Predators or Reapers were used are not accurate. This area is so close to the ocean that it would make much more sense to use Fire Scout drone helicopters launched from a destroyer or other warship off the coast.

The latest versions of these helicopters can fly as high as 20,000 feet, and they have enough range to observe a target for hours if it's only, say, fifty miles away. Once they fix a target like a car or truck with jihadists in it, the warheads on the APKWS missiles they can carry are more than powerful enough to destroy it completely. And using a ship would eliminate the problem of maintaining a secure drone base in a place as dangerous as Yemen.

The locals took pictures of the vehicle destroyed in one of those recent attacks, and it is way too much intact to have taken a direct hit--or even a near miss--by a warhead as powerful as a Hellfire's. There have been other photos of vehicles hit by Hellfires, and there was nothing left but scattered pieces of charred metal of various sizes. If my guess is right and Fire Scouts from a ship are being used, it doesn't say much for the intelligence of the jihadists that they choose to hole up in villages in open desert only a couple dozen miles from the coast.

Heya Matchlight. :2wave: AQAP is validating it themselves. France can say thank you.

Validating what? That they killed the yellow cur behind the Charlie Hebdo attack?

That they got one of AQAP's Clerics....and one used for Promoting and Recruiting to their cause.

:2bump: Bumping this up as AQ in Yemen.....has now pledged to ISIS. Also the US, UK, and France closed our Embassies up in Yemen and we are getting our people out. The Shia have taken control of the country.

A group of Islamist fighters in Yemen renounced their loyalty to al Qaeda's leader and pledged allegiance to the head of the Islamic State, according to a Twitter message retrieved by U.S.-based monitoring group SITE.

AQAP is considered the most powerful branch of the global militant network headed by Ayman al-Zawahiri and has previously rejected the authority of Islamic State which has declared a caliphate, or Islamic theocracy, in swathes of Iraq and Syria.

"We announce the formation of armed brigades specialized in pounding the apostates in Sanaa and Dhamar," the purported former AQAP supporters wrote, referring to two central provinces. "We announce breaking the pledge of allegiance to the sheikh, the holy warrior and scholar Sheikh Ayman al-Zawahiri ... We pledge to the caliph of the believers Ibrahim bin Awad al-Baghdadi to listen and obey," they said.....snip~

Here is the Info on the Evacuations.

The State Department announced late Tuesday that the U.S. Embassy in Yemen had been closed and evacuated after much of the country was taken over by Shiite rebels last month.

Hours later, Britain and France followed suit and ordered their citizens to leave Yemen as soon as possible. "The security situation in Yemen has continued to deteriorate over recent days," U.K. Minister for the Middle East Tobias Ellwood said in a statement. "Regrettably we now judge that our embassy staff and premises are at increased risk." Ellwood also urged all British citizens still in Yemen to "leave immediately."

The embassy closures were announced as Houthi rebels, armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles and dressed in police uniforms and civilian clothes, patrolled the main boulevards of the capital, Sanaa, some in pickup trucks mounted with anti-aircraft guns.....snip~

Good morning, MMC. :2wave:

It looks like in-fighting for supremacy has begun, and consolidation might be forthcoming. An open rift like this could mean what to us, MMC, and are they Shia or Sunni changing allegiance? I can't keep the players straight!

AQ are Sunni. Now that the Shia have taken the country.....the concern is their Sectarian divide opening up wider.

AQ has threatened to go after the Shia here. Some figure this would happen with AQAP and ISIS. Once we knew they were working together in Syria with Al Nusra.

So basically they seem to be heading more toward "central command" rather than tribal "guerrilla" type fighting? I don't know what's worst for the Western countries, because they all seem to have the same evil wrong-headed mindset as a bottom line starting point! They've been killing each other for 1300 years, so why include us - we don't have the same religious beliefs, and neither does Israel. . . or is that the whole point!

Mueller of the CIA, just came out and reported that ISIS was expanding and spreading faster than AQ ever did. Which he then cited all the Countries they have popped up in.

So BO's own people can't avoid the concern anymore.

Well, it looks like Obama now wants to commit our US military personnel to something that he should never have gotten us involved in at all from the very beginning by targeting regime changes to topple governments, period! Most of those prior dictators were ***holes, but they kept the lid on the pressure cooker in the ME! Now what have we got? Those idiots were happy just exterminating each other for thousands of years, all in the name of religion, and we are going to change their thinking? Who's side are we going to be on this time - they're all the same savage animals they always used to be - they just change names from time to time, but the goal remains the same - kill those who don't agree with you! Nice - NOT! :2mad:
